ive decided that if i have to commute to work a few more months, the ipod is worth getting. i always held back since i had an older one, but its just been broken forever now.

so any suggestions on what one to get? size? model?

i don't really have too many requirements besides that it be able to hold a reasonable amount of songs (so no tiny thing)

Do you want to watch videos? I don't use the video part very often but it's been handy on airplanes. It really wears the battery down though.

The new Nano is available in 4G and 8G.

Itunes kind of sucks, tho.

well what do you fool suggest if you don't think i should get an ipod?

i've kind of given up on creative, since thats the one i had before and it gave me too many problems to be really worth it

as far as videos go, i feel like i wouldnt use it, but i think that if i had 20 or 30 gigs of space, i think i would feel obligated to fill it up with something since i know my music wouldnt fill the thing

I think I'm one of the only 10 people that have a zune. I love it. 30Gs, movies on it are bomb quality. Big screen and even with the movies being converted to a medium quality to save space, it still looks really really good. I use it all day at work, everyday. I love it.

Its also nice to send shit to other people who have a zune...if you can actually find someone that has one.

The only things that sucks about it, are that sometimes when I plug it back in to charge it while listening to it, it shuts off. That happens like once every couple of months. Also, making playlists can't really be done without using the Zune media player. But other than that.....I love it.

30 GB is not enough to keep all the music you like (I guess). I have 60 GB and that's quite okay. I'm not sure about the quality of an iPod, but as I use iTunes on my office-mac, I don't want to do every playlist twice for another player-system. For me the iPod is okay, although I know there are mp3-players that are better in soundquality and especially hardware-quality. But anyway, get yourself the new iPod classic with at least 80 GB...

I think it is, because i've noticed that I don't even listen to half of the shit i have on there.

NOOOOOOO!!! Man, get an Archos. It's a little more bulky than an Ipod but the screen size is great for watching vids. I've had mine for about 5 months now and I love it. I've got the 504 but there's a few others that I wouldn't mind having.

The battery life is excellent too. I'm talking at least 4 days of watching vids and listening to music.

Check the site out (http://archos.com/?country=global&lang=en)

if i remember correctly, i have something between 5 and 8 gigs of music on my computer right now. i could easily rip all of my cd's and fill up multiple machines, but i've never really done that. and so i probably wont do that with an ipod since i'd have to rip them to the computer where i don't have the free space just to get them into the darn thing, and then delete right away so i could continue.

i think i remember reading something about the zune once before, i'll have to check out some more stuff about it before i go out this weekend

Also, you can record your t.v. shows when you're not home with it using the docking port. You can also record all of your dvds on to it. I'm telling you, this is a much better deal.

That is dope. Something to seriously consider.

while it does look nice, i'm pretty certain that i'm more inclined to go for the music end, not the video. i highly doubt i'll be putting any full movies or much of anything more than a few music videos or goofy comedic sketches

high five, steger and i both have Zunes. i love mine. it's everything i need. really no complaints with it.

i had a Zen Micro for a year that i loved to death but eventually it became possessed and completely shat itself. the headphone jack was practically useless (i had to hold the headphones in just the right position, very difficult when on a treadmill or something), and it would skip tracks randomly or switch to FM radio or turn the volume way down or up when i wasn't even touching it. i've been looking at the stone, 1 gb for like 40 bucks, just for while i'm riding my bike and all. for 20 or 30 more you can get one with a screen and in different colors. not a bad deal.
