I bought The Con last week and have been hooked since then. I had horrible timing on getting into them though, they played two shows here just after I started listening to them and I didn't go because I didn't know.

Anyways, anyone else like this duo? I'm not usually into music with this much pop sensibility (though I do like Lily Allen for some reason), but The Con is easily the best 2007 release I've listened to so far. Every song is immediately memorable for the lyrical content, composition, and catchiness. I've had the entire album constantly tattooed into my brain for the last week. I listen to it almost every chance I get.

I've only got 'So Jealous' and it's ok. Some songs are really catchy but I also find that they get very repetitive.

I'm going to the music store for other things today. Should I get So Jealous or The Con?

I haven't heard So Jealous yet. The Con is a short album (36 minutes I believe) but every song is good.

I saw them on Saturday night, they annoy the hell out of....but you know when someone from your city achieves success you often tend to resent it....but I've met them and they're snobbish witches....yes.....Northern State opened (y) and what I would've given for a full set from them and maybe give T and S 15 mins of acoustic time outside the bathrooms or something......(n)

I've heard a couple of interviews with one of them and they came across really full of themselves.

And all the songs written on the Con by I think Sara? are all about the demise of her relationship, and even in her lyrics she comes across as a bit of a bratty bitch that I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with her, either.

Did that even make grammatical sense?

But yes, the new songs are more catchy than the old album.

Sara's songs are mostly about the relationship she's in now. There's a song about gay marriage, about being away from each other, about "straying", etc. Tegan is the one with all the break up songs and her voice isn't quite as whiny.

They joke a lot in their interviews, it almost reminds me of the Beastie Boys. They do it completely straight faced too. And apparently if you stick around to meet them after a show you will get a chance to talk to them.

So Jealous was listenable (i know i know i know is still a favorite of mine), but i've heard The Con is completely devoid of any real substance.

"if it was you" is the better album

it had more twang

"city girl" , "living room" and "I hear noises" are my favorite tracks

I have only heard the single off the new album, Ill get around to it once I finally get my internet connection at home for fucks sake.

Yeah, I love that song too. I just popped in The Con today, and I think So Jealous is a lot better. The Con seemed short, and it was kind of hard to follow mixed storylines...nothing that memorable about it.

My girlfriend and her roomie are fans and because I am often in the car with them, I've heard this album. I'd say some of the songs are alright. I don't get why either of them make such a huge deal out of them.

One thing I have noticed is that they are incredibly popular among lesbians (my girlfriend's roommate). Like, to the point where they will defend them fanatically and dismiss any opinion that isn't "Tegan and Sara are amazing." Why are they so popular among lesbians, aside from the obvious point that they are both gay?

^It's pretty simple…people like what they feel they can relate to…reminds me of Sleater Kinney,The Breeders and the Indigo Girls…lesbiana adoration galore…
