I have Starchild and Jewelz. I enjoy them both, but probably Starchild a little more. He reminds me of Deck in a way; he has great verses with other rappers featuring, but never quite hits the same stride solo.

Jewelz is one of the best hip-hop albums in my opinion. What makes you prefer Starchild?

It's close. I just prefer the sound of Starchild. There were hundreds of albums with production like Jewelz in 97.

Word...Life.

Time's Up is probably the only solo OC song I thoroughly feel the need to ever bring up in conversation. Mainly because it's filthy. Just filthy. I never bothered buying anything after Jewelz, which was pretty unstimulating. The D.I.T.C. album was better than either.

He had a song with Jay-Z (Crew Love) that was later redone with Bleek And Beanie instead of him. The Bleek and Beans version was much better.

Yeah I'd been told about Word...Life. Worth checking out?

No.

Just listen to Time's Up. It's more relevant today than it was back then.

people always talk about Word...Life because it was or still is out of print. i listened to it a few times and i still don't know what the fuss was all about. i never checked him out after that because dude is weak.

Well I preferred The Big Picture to LODPAD so what do I know. But to me The Jewelz is an amazing album, Starchild is a bit weak. Word...Life isn't bad but sounds a bit dated to me now. And yeah there was a lot of production like that at the time but rarely were albums so consistent.

And Dangerous is pretty much the best east coast song of the mid-90s. (y)

I have to be honest and say all i know of O.C. is "Time's Up", but its one of the all time classic songs of all time ever in all the time. I love it.

Pad, I'm not saying you don't know. I like Jewelz plenty. Lifestylez is possibly the single most overrated hip-hop album of the 90s.

I was executive VP for wild pitch when Word...Life dropped and O.C. was like "damn son I need a single" and I said "go into the studio and make something contaminated" and thats where Times Up came from.

I don't think O.C. ever spat over a beat quite that festering again. That beat was maggots.

That's my southern hemisphere disability rearing its ugly head there. Few things I never heard; I'm a busy dude between jerking off and clipping my toenails, but I'm rill about it. Rilly rill.

The Dangerous beat was pretty nauseating.
