Bare with me, couple video links and pics later.
Well I've been a long time site visitor but have never posted. Been a BB fan as long as I can remember and am proud to own all of their albums and most of the singles they have released except the elusive Country Mike. Have never seen them live before even tho it was something I had wanted to do since the mid 80's as a young teen.
I'm 34 out of Tulsa Oklahoma and as a gift from my wife she purchased flight, hotel and tix to the Riviera and Northerly Island concerts.
Waiting for the trip was like pulling teeth.
Once we made it I was in heaven.
We showed early to the Riviera concert. My wife looking gorgeous as always and I was in a black suit, purple shirt and tie and my suede fidora.
Met some great people in line. Couple right behind us were great. Leon and his girlfriend that for the life of me cant remember her name (sorry). You may have seen him with the fake moustach. He showed me a pic he took of Yauch walking by the theatre while I was up the street getting gyros for the wife and I. (damn)
They announced that no video cameras were allowed. In shock since I had brought mine I told them I was emailed from the site ASKING me to bring it. After receiving a "yeah right" look I produced the printed email to security ( I was prepared) who proceeded to huddle around it like a football team. I was finally givin the letter back and after a few pats on the back for being prepped for that instance and a 3 or 4 minute interview with the Beasties camera man we were on our way in.
I right away bought 4 shirts. One for me, the wife, and my 2 children ages 7 and 9. My son loves the Beasties but being 7 I just thought he was too young. Next tour I promised we would fly whereever. He wears the shirt proudly to school.
We ended up taking the balcony just a couple rows behind the banana welding robot. Sat next to 2 wonderful ladies that bought us drinks when they found out where we were from. (Thank you for the Heineken!)
If you were there no need to explain the concert. I was blown away. Seeing them live was what I had dreamed. I loved the whole concert even the instrumentals that some have spoke negatively about. I have wore "The Mix Up" cd out in my Z.
Thank you BBs for a night I will always remember. I am now waiting for the word on where to send my footage and hope I make it on the DVD when it comes out. How wild would that be?
We braved the stage on Northerly Island the next night. We were 2 people back from the rail infront of Adrock's setup the whole show. Was a different crowd at this concert. Seemed alot younger.
Had a girl that thought I needed my yellow hood pulled over my face and later thought I was her spring board at the beginning of a few songs till I finally schrugged her off and another guy asked her boyfriend to move her. I didn't let it ruin my experience. I just figured she was young, rude and hadnt yet developed any social skills. A fight broke out behind me at one point and a guy was shoved into my wife and which point I leaned over the rail to security and told him if he didn't do anything and my wife got hit again he was going to see me whoop this twerps butt. The fight broke and the kid went elsewhere. Other than my wife running off some bimbo trying to cut infront of us it was cool. Mr T was a couple rows behind me. Loved the ring man.
Seeing them on the stage having fun together and cracking each other up after all the years was great.
I have tried to think of a favorite moment but it was all too great to single anything out. was worth the trip and can't wait to do it again. To everyone I met and befriended reading this thanks for adding to my experience. I am taking the kids to Disney World Friday for 10 days so THIS was truely my vacation of the year cause I know that won't be relaxing.
Of all my countless pics here is my fav, Time for Livin'
