i haven't had that one yet, but i think i need to get myself a bottle. i have been collecting bottles for the bast 2 years now. i have about 15 empties of various types so far.

my current bottle is a thicker sauce (i forget the brand). but it is more like a salsa, with bits of seed and such floating in it. its quite tasty, i must admit.

I've had some hot sauces before, but when they get too, too hot, it just seems silly. It's pretty rare that super duper hot sauces let flavor
come through, too.

I made some one time with almost all habaneros. It was fucking ridiculous. Basically, if you just waved a chip over the top, it was enough
to make you cry when you ate it.

So I took it to some friend's place for a New Year's party. These two guys got into it, sat there egging each other on. Their faces were
burning red, puffed up and crying like they'd just lost their grandmas or something. It was insane.

I will do wasabi wars, though, but that's different. (y)

Yeah, I've had this shit before. Holy crap, it was so hot. I used to put it on pizza and sometimes would dab too much of it on a slice and would be going mad as my tongue burned. I'd still keep eating it though. And then the guy whose sauce it was broke the bottle and that was the end of that. Thankfully.

I just use Frank's for pizza, tobasco for caesars or bloody mary's and Siracha for actual cooking, the rest of it is apt to ruin a meal.....(n)...in college,my brother and i tried to aquire as many of these as possible....

true, some super duper hot hot sauces won't let the flavor come through, but dave's just adds oomph and you can taste whatever you're eating -- for the first 10 seconds before your eyes starts to water. :D

siracha.. my sister puts that on eggs.

YES! This is what I've been saying all along. I dont get why you would want something so hot you cant taste the flavor of what you are eating? Where's the enjoyment in that? I like a little heat but nothing thats going to leave me crying and burning for hours.

This is why I am a fan of wasabi and just good old Lousiana hot sauce...instant heat but goes away in the next few chews.

Yup.

I am very fortunate to have a terrific Chinese (Hunan?) restaurant a block away from my apartment where they will make it hot and yet you
can still the other flavors. The place is fucking great -- a woman who was co-chef of a four-star restaurant in SF move to San José and
she and her husband got a tiny spot in this shitty building and they do their thing. It's great stuff. But anyway, yeah, it's the real deal.
I usually order it "very mild" because if I don't, I'm sitting there eating with tears streaming down my face the whole time.

i think i need to get myself this poster! i probably have a decent amount of them already. that would be a good challenge for me!

sjp- i think you are referring to quaker steak and lube perhaps? its a wing joint that rates all of their sauces on the scoville hear unit scale. they have some real tasty ones too (y)
