We're having a little Christmas Remix Contest (http://www.beastiemixes.com/contest3.php) over at the Beastiemixes (http://www.beastiemixes.com)
There are no prizes, but you'll feel good in knowing that you've helped make people happy in what is generally a pretty miserable holiday for a lot of people, including myself.
You can however win the admiration of you're fellow mixers / Dj's when you bust out some incredibly crazy jams that make people's eyes roll back in their heads in extacy, in awe of your supreme remixing skills.
Come and have some fun...
Your humble host,
Silence7

Which do you guys prefer (Either way is ok with me) ?
1.) I post up the entries as soon as they hit my in-box
2.) I wait until the contest is closed and then I post them up
Do you guys want to feed off each others mix ideas and build on them, or do you want to be surprised at the end with what everyone came up with?
Its all one question, 1 or 2?

Definitely 2, Silence7. Lettin folks hear stuff before it's done is like lettin the kids peek in the closet before Christmas morning!

I don't mind hearing some mixes already. so we don't use the same samples all the time. I think it would be great if you would hide the dj name. that's the funniest part about the contest: wow! how could have done that mix?

Definitely 2, Silence7. Lettin folks hear stuff before it's done is like lettin the kids peek in the closet before Christmas morning! it was pretty cool to check the new entries daily during the last contest. all the great mixes made me want to do a second and third mix. very motivating.

OK, I've gone over this in my head and with friends for about a week now and..
1) If I wait until the end to post them, I'll be up all night working on it.
2) If I wait until the end to post them, People who might want to hear them in order to grab different samples won't be able to.
3) If I do the hidden name, but allow downloads, then the downloads won't be counted. Not a big deal to some, a big deal to others. And then when the entry period ends I have to go and add the mixes with the names to people's pages. So, double work for me. (Yeah I'm lazy)
Soooooo, downloads will be available when I get them, if you'd like to take a listen, feel free, if not, you can wait until the end.
I really liked the hiding names etc etc from the last contest, but it really was a lot of work. I've really struggled with this, as I don't know if people knowing who the other mix belongs to will taint their voting or not, I'm hoping that everyone can be objective, and vote fairly and everything will turn out great. If not we'll have to change it up for the next one.
Okej folks here is my contribution.
I think that is the best a have done and the most happiest.
"Oh Word" (http://www.jway.se/music/Word.mp3)
Really exciting to have the possibility to win just nothing :cool:

Ok, since nobody seems to be taking me up on this chance to win nothing.. I'm taking it upon myself to UP the ante by $150.00
But there's a catch!!! Isn't there always one.
The $150 will be donated in your name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (http://www.wish.org).
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 144,000 children around the world.
Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.
A network of more than 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.
As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish®.
Make-A-Wish has chapters all over the world and I will let you pick which chapter you would like me to donate to. Or you can pick a general fund (Inside the US, or Outside the U.S.)

Seriously, this is my LEAST favorite time of the year, the greed, the people fighting in the stores, the advertising for this slugfest 3 months in advance.
The Target store in town had Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas stuff out October 1st. It was enough to make ya' puke. Halloween is getting brushed off because apparently people don't spend enough money on it, so they now give us Christmas at the same time.
If it wasn't for the small ones in my family, I would have given up on Christmas a long time ago.
:( H A P P Y H O L I D A Y S ! ! ! :(
Couple days left and we get to vote on this Mutha' :)

Here is my entry to the contest: The Christmas B Boy Breakdown
http://www.beastiemixes.com/download.php?id=1293&chk=f32h
After searching through 80 mins of audio about 6 or 7 times (good times), some nice little gems were pulled out of the audio provided. A little mix of sampled beats and sounds, original bass line and keys and also some kuts from B Boys vinyl make up this little diddy.
This was a fun track to work on and is one of my fav's to date.
Festivus for the rest of us!

Nate Wize (http://www.beastiemixes.com/remixer.php?id=74) is the WINNER!!!!
You can check the "Contest Page (http://www.beastiemixes.com/contest3.php)" for the Gory details just like last year.
Nate now gets to spend $150 of my money on some very deserving kids.

Thanks to everyone who participated. I hope it made your Christmas just a little bit happier, I know I'm happier :D
You guys ROCK!!!

Congrats, Nate! I do believe the best mix has won. Good job, bro:D(y)
And Silence GREAT job on choice of prize. The fact that we have the means to throw down Beasties mixes is a sure sign that WE are doing pretty well. Spread the love! That's what the holidays are supposed to be all about. Kudos Silence!

Nice work Nate!
Frist time I listened to your mix I knew you would be wearing the christmas remix crown!
As for the votes:
I knew my mixing skill aren't up to par, but I guess you guys don't like hardcore lyrics and DIY acepellas either!?
Much love to everyone who gave it a shot. If I gave you a low score it was because I was compairing all the remixes to each other and trying to put them in a ranking from my most fav on down, kinda like a top ten/eleven list.
