...one of my favorite artists, and our local museum just landed a show of some of his earlier, under-appreciated stuff. Cool images, but seeing the paintings in person is revelatory. I was actually getting pretty overwhelmed.

Unfortunately, hardly any of the images are online. But:

...and, to my surprise, one of his later pieces was on loan as well. In person, it's about seven feet high, I think, and the paint really looks aquatic:

I'm not sure how I feel about this guy...every one of those that I've looked at so far - I wanted to crop it.

His later stuff is what he's really famous for, but I like this period a bunch.
