would there be panic and rioting in the streets?

Planetary

probably be worse than that

probably not on the first day. in the first week there would be mass suicides. in about two weeks the rioting would start. after a month or so the world would crumble. in about a year the U.S. would start a rebuilding process that would probably take forever.

I definitely get itchy when the internet connection fails. Fortunately, at this job, I can reset it and it can come back in in half a minute or so.
At my last job, I lost connection for a couple of days sometimes. That was awful.

what's worse is when the power goes out for an extended period of time. a few summers ago the power went out all over the region for atleast a day and a half to two days. there was nothing to do other than to eat and fuck and sit of the porch.

I picture the scene near the end of Total Recall, when the air gets put back on and people start stepping outside for the first time. All these people who sit on their asses all day playing WoW or looking at porn, coming outside and blinking their eyes at the bright sun, so used to being in the basment, Frito's crumbs on their Stargate t-shirts.

imagine all the nerds roaming the streets like zombies raiding the toy stores for board games

hmmmm....from a point of commerce it would be a freaking meltdown....and personally i don't know what i'd do without my witty banter......I mean I type these thoughts out,hit "submit reply" and presto I'm pixelated for the people.....or more so my own entertainment.....

I could see people being pretty PO'd after a while but didn't people get by fine a few decades ago when there was no internet? Maybe I'm just imagining stuff.

I know I wouldn't survive, a world without the internet isn't one I want to be in.

Last summer my internet connection was cut off for ten days. It cost me an awful lot cause I missed to pay some bills in time,
and I missed the pre-sale for Brixton shows.
I did get almost a month free from my internet provider, but it didn't cover my losses.
