so living in a smaller town, 4 hours away from tha big city, i hardly ever see good shows. but this week has been the polar opposite. we drove to DC to see Bad Religion on sunday and that show was sooooooo fucking good. oh man they played a long set and the crowd was soooo into it. i love seeing a good circle pit going on.

so last night was a memorial hardcore show for an old friend that died a few years ago. being in a smaller town, the punk scene is really tight knit. 3 local bands last night and about 20 old fuckers i haven't seen in years. it was like old times and it was so nice to talk about memories. the place was packed!

tonight, just a mere 40 mins away, is fucking GOGOL BORDELLO! i have been a fan for a LONG fucking time. this is my first opportunity to see them. if you don't know who they are, they're "gypsy punk" which is just what it sounds like. here's an AWESOME vid of them live, they're intense!

then saturday is a Rockabilly show with Hillbilly Casino. Man when they play, the place turns into one big ball of dancing sexual energy. alll the ladies will be dressed to impress.

my music tastes are really being tested this week with so many different styles, but i'm so happy to be seeing live music all week!

next week is the halloween tribute band show where my boys the Illbotz are posing as Run DMC for the night! YAY HOORAY!

Ah, I love Gogol Bordello. I've seen them 3 times now and it's been amazing everytime. Lowlands 2006 was my introduction to them and the biggest party I've ever seen. thousands of people were dancing and jumping at the same time. Lovely. <3
They're playing in Amsterdam on november 13th, but it's already sold out. :( I was looking forward to some serious partying/moshing and ending up with bruises. Oh well, Arcade Fire are playing on the same day so I guess I might be seeing them instead as I also love them to bits.

November is going to be a busy month for me, concert wise.
Arcade Fire, Rufus Wainwright, Beirut, The Coral, Minus The Bear... I should save up some money.

ok, so the show was incredible. i'm glad i took today off b/c i danced WAY too much and my feet effing hurt. i can only imagine how that show would been if it was in a bar and alcohol had been involved.

i took some vid and i'm uploading pics on my flickr. i think i have that listed on my profile. :)

Oh, I know what that's like.
Over here the 'Balkan Beat' parties have become quite popular, and I've visited a few. It's just Gogol Bordello style gypsy/punk/party music ALL NIGHT LONG and there's lots of booze involved. It's music that really connects people, because It's the only kind of party I know where people of all origins and styles get together and dance with eachother til 5 in the morning.
I can't wait til the next one. :D

yeah, the DJ (which was part of the gogol entourage) was playing that kinda stuff. i loved it! he played some bahngra, reggae, swing, uhh, so many to think of. i was the only one getting my groove on to all the music. it was incredibly cool. it's def something that doesn't happen around here. it was so interesting.

If you ever come to Amsterdam I could take you to a Balkan Beat party, because there's now one every month. It's a gypsy style band first and then DJ Tommi will plal the coolest music all night. And he dances with the audience. I once gave him the thumbs up and he gave me his bottle of vodka. :D

This is a clip of the coolest BB party I've ever been to, at the Lowlands festival last year.

You can't see me, but I'm standing about 10 feet away from the guy who's filming.
