With the wildfires in California raging away FEMA our wonderful emergency response agency that has GWB's crisis handling fingerprints all over it, held a fake news conference last Tuesday. Here is part of the embedded Dog & Pony (http://thinkprogress.org/2007/10/26/fema-softball-presser/) show.

They had this pretend news conference pre-planned and told the media outlets it started at 1:00 PM PST. Oh wait, they told the media outlets at 12:45 PM PST the news conference would begin. Fifteen minutes to show up and ask your questions. I know that sounds harsh, but wait there's more! They of course also had a free 1-800 number to let the media call, the problem with this though was it was a "Listen Only" message number.

So here it is, a major disaster (http://blogs.nature.com/news/thegreatbeyond/2007/10/california_fires_from_space.html) in California, up to 770 square miles burned (http://q13.trb.com/news/kcpq-102607-wildfirefridayataglance,0,1099474.story), hundreds of thousand's evacuated from their homes and FEMA fucking holds a pretend news conference (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-na-fema27oct27,0,5014012.story)to pat itself on it's back.

meanwhile in a surreal update (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/26/AR2007102602157.html), looks like the another FEMA official get's to "Fail Upwards (http://prnewser.wordpress.com/2007/10/27/exclusive-fema-director-of-external-affairs-exits-amidst-pr-scandal-lands-at-ondi/)"!

"We are reviewing our press procedures and will make the changes necessary to ensure that all of our communications are straight forward and transparent," Vice Adm. Harvey E. Johnson Jr., FEMA's deputy administrator, said in a four-paragraph statement.

"We can and must do better, and apologize for this error in judgment," Johnson said, a view repeated yesterday by press officers at the White House and the Department of Homeland Security, who criticized the event.

The reaction to this from the White House was essentially "heh, just a few wild cards in the deck — we'll fire the ones who set up the press conference." Not a single word of criticism for Johnson who didn't have a single clue that something was wrong by the softball nature of the questions? Puhleeze.

Goes to show FEMA (or those running it) is completely inept at dealing with natural disasters of such magnitude, or helping those who have been affected by natural disasters of such magnitude, remember Katrina?

And look! Someone gets a pat on the shoulder and a huge jump in their career for it. Hmmm looks like what happened shortly after 9/11

These people DO NOT CARE about Americans or any citizen of any nation, well they care enough to keep it just barely alive and going for them to rape.....like waterboarding

We should change the meaning of the acronym
