If your significant other told you that if they had to choose between you or their dogs they would pick the dogs. Further more they told you that they count the two dogs as “one” so you’re “number two” in their lives not “number three”……..help me settle this ongoing debate please.

stay - its a test.
Or kill the dogs,
Or have an affair.

Well its one answer really. They all mean stay.
But they have a little added extra. Like those roll playing books they used to have, where you decided if to summon the wizard or take the path with the talking tree at.
If you kill the dogs you are gonna be dumped. Or you have an affair and get found out you're gonna be dumped. Those won't be your actions - so all three say stay

Go, if I'm going to be dumped over a couple of dogs. I'm second to nothing in a proper relationship, least of all an animal.
I do really like dogs, though, so, who knows.

For the record the two dogs in question are giant English Mastiffs

dogs are very often better than people. don't take it personally. it's just one of those things.

especially if the dogs were there first
mastiffs are pretty damn big, too...were they in the room when she said they were number one? maybe she was afraid of offending them, i know i wouldn't want to piss off a mastiff

act like a dog for a bit, going around on all fours, pissing wherever you like and barking.
You could get a friend to say that you were knocked unconscious and when you awoke started acting like a dog
see what happens

Alright I got the info...basically the dude hates dogs a lot but they've been dating for a while and he actually doesn't mind hers too much even though they're really BIG (180lbs, and 165lbs) and they drool a lot (he's a bit of a neat freak). They actually had been talking about getting a place together. Basically he was willing to accept the dogs because in his mind if it came down to it I thought she would get rid of them if he asked. Just knowing that was enough to make him want to accept and love them as well. But now that he knows for fact that is not the case he's resentful and angry bout it.

I think it's more of a priorities thing....like humans should come before animals.

um no
not if she had to dogs first. everything in her life she had first is priority

animals are way more loyal than people. and they're also way more innocent and need someone to love them and take care of them.

I dunno man that's kind of a stretch...I mean my friends were in my life before my girlfriend but I don't think they're a higher priority than she is. I can't speak for everyone but whe you get in a relationship sometimes priorities gotta change. I don't really mind dogs myself but I can see where he's coming from. I mean if it was a child then yeah the kid's gotta be numero uno no doubt about it but c'mon dogs?

you mean someone you've known for 6 months has priority over people you've known for 15 years? that's pretty fucked up and disrespectful.
Loppfessor
10-29-2007, 12:36 AM
I guess if you wanna look at it that way....but that's not how I feel. I'm saying that if you're in a committed relationship you have to be in it 100% and put each other first. I'm not talkin bout some floozie you been hangin with for a few weeks or whatever I'm talking like a serious steady long term relationship.

if it was just because he didn't like the dogs, no. if he had serious allergies or something, maybe. but no way. pets can be really important to people. i've always considered my pets to be part of my family.

Hence the "serious, steady and longterm" part

there's this commercial with a dog tearing up some shit and a girl trying to yank it away from the dog. then the dude comes into the room from his perspective and the girl looks at him and goes...either she goes or i go!
i think i'd choose the dog.

To me it would really depend on the situation.
If I were just dating someone and it wasn't serious? Of course I'd keep my dogs.
If she were going to be more or less moving in and, say, was allergic? Yeah, I'd find a home for the dogs.
