Nerdier pharrells?

saw these dudes open for M.I.A. over the weekend and really dig them. Reminds me of Cadence Weapon.

Do they have an actual record out? Can't seem to locate it....

Not yet. I think they have an LP due on Chocolate Industries though.

They have an EP called 'Totally Flossed Out'. I don't know how official it is (as in, compiled by them) but it's their music. 8 tracks. Gets a little same-y, but it's not bad.

Check out 88. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37Iu-hy3uVw) It's kind of sad that new groups are doing a better job of being the Beastie Boys than the Beastie Boys themselves, but this song is dope regardless. It's nice to hear that legacy in the eclecticism of the production on this track.

Parkey, I notice a lot of British music journalism is 'hard sell';American music journalists are obsessed with artist anecdotes moreso, where you guys tend to push with a little more urgency. Do you notice a difference in styles?

I just listened to some of their stuff for the first time recently and I got to say, I'm enjoying it.

Need to see what they're up to so I can keep them on my radar.

Eh, I'm over it. They don't actually have a great deal of talent, the only props they get is for ripping off the Beastie Boys. Sorry Beastie Boys *genuflects*. These guys can stretch four bars into eight real nice, all while spitting over loops that sound like Check Your Head shit, though. At least they're fashionable. Gets oooooooold fast.

My bad for the shock-posting in the first case.

I could definitely see them getting stale.

They need to switch up subjects and what not to really be worth listening to an albums full of material.

I only just noticed this... Soz.

I reckon the difference between music journalism between the UK and US is the speed in which things are talked up / chucked in the bin... The US mags seem far more willing to support people beyond their initial flush. In the UK we have to hammer them within months of first proclaiming their virtues...

There's a small paragraph about them in the gurdian (http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic/story/0,,2238457,00.html). I just got the totally flossed out ep, sounds good so far.

They're coming to the uk next month. 1 date in Glasgow and 1 in Edinburgh. Glasgow sounds tempting.

Aye - I think I'm going to go and see them in Notts.
