what the crap? why are teeth so stupid? why isn't healthcare and dental stuff free? I mean, people get sick and teeth rot, sometimes even if you take good care of yourself. it's not fair!

I'm probably going to have to spend all the money I've been saving on my stupid teeth. I need one of my wisdom teeth out and the tooth next to it is broken and it needs a root canal and a crown. but I really just want them to take out both of them. I'll make my own goddamned fake tooth. it's not like dentists are magic or anything, they're normal people. I can figure out how to make a fake tooth.

AAARRRRRGHHHH!

I just had a crown put on a tooth about four or so months ago and it still hasn't been feeling "normal."

I doesn't feel quite as odd as it originally did, I have become somewhat used to it... but I can still tell that it's not my original equipment. Which I think is pretty bunk.

that suck!

here we have free health care but not the teeth , and i never understood why.Teeth are part of the body , they are useful, it's not like they are a luxury thing. I don't know why they are not cover over here by the state health care.

You should totally pull them out both, if they are in the back , who care. My theory is that if you smile and it does not show , pull it out!! :D

they dont pain me, thats why I keep putting it off

Im more worried about whats happening with the front ones. I think i have some more root canals on the horizon.

I've got some hardcore horizontal impaction going on with my wisdom teeth. The idea of surgery totally freaks me out though, and I figure for now, they aren't bothering me, so I might as well let them stay.

I know how you feel with the money being an issue, I'm the proud owner of two root canals and more fillings than I can count, and no dental insurance at all.

Actually I could go for some hardcore horizontal impaction...

Booked in for wisdom tooth extraction at the end of November. One of them had a big chunk fall out, and I didn't feel a thing, which is always bad news. So I'm pretty excited. I'm gonna be all dramatic about it and scare my family by saying shit like "If I don't wake up" and "Make sure you continue my legacy". hahaha

it's fucking ridiculous how expensive dental bills are these days. even with the health care plan i have medibank only pay for 60% of the work. or maybe it's 40, i cant remember. i told i have to get 2 of my wisdom teeth out without 6-12 months and that was in december last year. i can feel my mouth and wallet are going to take a painful hit very soon :(

I just spent $420 on a new crown and that's WITH insurance. Ridiculous.

i just got dental insurance. i don't know when it goes into effect -- it might not be in effect until january.

i'm fairly certain it's not going to be that beneficial to have dental insurance.

we have this buddhist dental surgery run by monks. their dental care is either free or really cheap, but they don't use novocaine or anything. they make you meditate. sounds interesting.

eek! don't go there.

I've actually heard some quite positive reviews from there. but mostly because of how cheap they are. It's like, no cash, no painkillers i suppose.

just meditate on your own and use a hammer and chisel

okay, so I went to the dental school downtown. it was pretty awesome!

everyone was really nice. yeah, it sucked that I had to get there at 7 a.m. and spend my whole day there, but whatevs. they told me that my wisdom tooth is okay, just needs a filling (the other dentist was over-reacting). they wanted me to get a root canal on my broken tooth and put a crown on, but that would've been like $1000. since that tooth has been weird my whole life, I told them I just wanted it out. I'm gonna get a tooth implant later.

my dental student lady scheduled my surgery for the same day, so I just hung around campus for a couple hours and ate some lunch and went back and they did me up.

it cost:

$51 for the evaluation

$72 for the extraction

$11.95 for meds (tylenol 3)

total: $134.95

hooray!

(the tooth implant will be around $100 or so)

I'm not allowed to drink or smoke for a week though. and I can't use straws or spit. the spitting thing is pretty hard. also, I'm talking funny. yay!

I'm gonna be all dramatic about it and scare my family by saying shit like "If I don't wake up" and "Make sure you continue my legacy". hahaha

I'm going to do that when I get mine out. Legend.

I looked into getting private healthcare with a dental option, and it seems that for major dental there's a year long waiting period. I'm a bit frustrated at that - seeing as I no longer come under my parent's health cover (ceased being a student as of monday) and my wisdom teeth are just starting to bug me enough to prevent me eating, so I'm not so sure what to do.
