Candle thread

You know I like my place to smell good so I'm always on the lookout for a quality smelling candle. If I find a new aroma in a candle I like I'll usually get 3 or 4 of them because that's how many I usually have lit at the same time in my home.

I've got a spiced apple thing going on right now. I foud a nice no-name type at Target last week that I've been using. Yankee Candles are probably my standard though. I use different flavors for different times of the year.


Who's into candles and if you have any advice on good flavors or a skunked flavor I should avoid, let me know.

i have about a dozen in my room that i use to light my room at night when i'm not reading. they're mostly lavender candles but there's a few others. Choc Mint is prolly my fav. i find them very relaxing

Lavender is cool.
I use Yankee Candle's "Lilac Blossoms (http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/ycbvp/product_detail.jsp?oid=296943)" in the summertime.

It's Lavender-ish.

just today i was looking for an anti. cig. smoke. smell. candle for my sister but it actually smelled worse than cigarette smoke

my favorite candle smell is coffee but i dont really need any shit to support my coffee addiction plus im too afraid of fire to lit up anything

i also love the smell after you blew out the flame, total childhood/x mas smell

I like leaving bars of soap around my room to make it smell nice, rather than candles. they are just less effort and lessens the chance ill forget to blow the candle out and light my shit on fire, cause i have a hard enough time remembering to turn off the oven each time i use it.

i just figured out the other day, while staring at a candle, that the big ones will put themselves out when tipped over with that huge pool of melted wax that stays liquid around the flame

according to studies (and i'm not joking), the spiced pumpkin smell arouses men. if you want to set the mood, light some of those candles.

Did you know that pumpkin seeds are really good for prostate problems? Now you do.

When I use scented candles I usually use vanilla. I've got some really nice ones from IKEA, chocolate and coffee and cinnamon bun. When I had the chocolate one on for the first time I started craving for chocolate not first understanding why (I'd forgotten I had the candle burning).
For incense my favourite is sandalwood. Also I got some really nice blend from Natalie. It says nag champa agarbatti on it, so I don't really know smell that is.

I can't stand "New Car" smell.
Everyone's always going on about how nice a new car smells. I just got a new ride and the smell is really annoying, it smells like burnt rug. I roll down the windows asap even though it's like 40 degrees in the morning.

even worse than candles are those wanky scented candles that cost a lot of money.

You might want to try making your own candles, which can be pretty darned fun, actually. You buy colors and scents and you can
basically make 'em however you want. Just make sure you keep an eye on the paraffin when it's melting so you don't have a stove fire.

I buy these Roman Catholic idle/saint candles from the deli,my current fave is St Francis of Assisi who gives off an anise seed aroma,I kid you not....and they look wicked....

today i learnt that with a tissue and some used hollow candles, you can make one big super candle, unfornately you cant blow it out or put it out with water unless you want wax flying everywhere. on the bright side it's like having my own little fire place. and it's a good lighter for the daredevils out there :cool:

i think i just invented cold fusion by combining chicken and old candles thanks to super candle. on the downside i nearly set fire to the house and my housemates car :o
