View Full Version : What did your parents tell you about sex!

Inspired by the "mom likes ass sex" thread...

How old were you when you had "the talk" with your parents?

Or, did you even have "the talk" at all?

What did they say?

Or did they just stick the "Where Did I Come From?" book in your hands and run away?

For me - my mom was pregnant with my youngest sister when I was 7, so my parents felt that would be a good time to tell me all about how babies are made. They were pretty thorough, I have to say. There were lots of books and diagrams and what not. (If it had been today and not the 70's, I'm sure my mom would have made up some sort of PowerPoint presentation.) I had rather a lot of biological knowledge for a second grader, it must be said.

Mr.peachy says he had 2 sex talks with his dad. One was when he was about 15 and it went like this:

"They teach about all that stuff in school, right son?"

"Yeah, Dad."

The second was the day his parents dropped him off at college and it went like this:

"Keep in your pants, son."

"OK, Dad."

in sweden everyone walks around naked and does it openly in the supermarket checkout!

i remember this funny little book my mum showed me. i was about 7.
with 2 older sisters she probably figured that she should tell me "properly" rather than getting their version of events.
i saw plenty enough from them--or at least the eldest--to put me off the whole thing for a good long while :((n):(

Hardly anything. My mum and I had a throrough 'periods' talk but as for sex...it was school yard talk. They did say 'you can come to us to talk about anything' but i rarely did because i was too embarrased.

I think my dad only realised i was having sex when i got pregnant. Age 32.

I officially learned where babies come from when I was like 8 cus my mom was el prego with my sister....we talked and watched two videos, The Miracle of Life (or birth) and Where Did I come Frome?....the second one was a hilarious cartoon and my parents got soo embarassed they walked out of the room while I laughed hysterically.....

Flash forward to when I was like 16. I was dating this girl from work who was 18 and had a car. She would always come pick me and we'd go out so my mother assumed we were having sex. One day before the girl came over my mom told me to sit down she said "Now I'm not telling you it's okay to be having sex but if you are going to then you had better be safe" and she gave me a box of condoms. I thought it was a nice gesture and I could tell she wanted to cry cus her baby boy was "all grown up" or something...

My parents discovered that my Tricolore (french textbook) contained several rather graphic amendments to the 'parts of the body' section (not made by me I hasten to add) and then asked me if I knew what the terms meant. I think I said sort of. And then my mum handed me a book and said if you have any questions to talk to her. I read and didn't want to ever discuss anything EVER AGAIN. I think I was about 14 or so.

i remember always knowing more about sex then my friends when i was a kid. but no one never really sat me down and spoke to me about it. i first had sex ed in 5th grade. so i was like 9. and all the discovery channel and the learning channel shit i watched. i use to listen to the radio with headphones as i slept. if a didn't fall asleep in time this sex/relations show would come one with callers asking ridiculous questions. i think that show was the major contributing factor.

when i was 18/19 i was dating this girl same age as me and she didn't know what her clit was. she thought the term clit was the opening to her vagina. how does that even happen? she was by no means a prude, either.

They told me nothing and thats all I needed to know.

I believe my parents had talks with my older sisters? Maybe because of the fear of some guy sticking it to them. Also rules about dating/when they could date and so on.

Because I am the boy I apparently do receive any of those talks. lol. Everything has just been unspoken.

I never had 'the talk'. My parents are very much embarassed about the whole sex thing and the only time I heard my mum mention it, was at a birthday party when she was drunk.
I just figured it out myself and by the age of 14, when we got sex-ed in school, I pretty much knew everything already, including the biological stuff.

Because it was never mentioned at home, my mum thought I was never even interrested in guys until I was about 18.

I was like 14 years old, and for some reason my dad took my friend and I to see "Risky Business". Afterwards, I guess my dad felt some type of moral obligation to say something about all of the sex we just saw so he says "Uh, you know John, sex with a protitute isn't really like that." Mortified, I just nodded my head. When I finish building my time machine, one of the things that I am going to do is ask him "Well, what is sex with a prostitute like then?"

Is your dad still living? Because if he is, you should totally ask him that now. Like at Thanksgiving dinner or something.

My mother was the editor of the Canadian edition of "Ms" magazine for 3 years when I was coming up...so I recall "Our Bodies Ourselves" floating around the house and when she'd find you with it she'd engage you on whatever subject you were reading about...she totally explained the female and male reproductive systems in a manner by which a 9 year old boy could understand.....so nothing was taboo with her....Pops however was wayyy less than direct, encouraging flirtation with girls but always being shallow or trying to make light of the subject....I remmeber he explained sperm as "Gods Glue" etc....

i never really got much of a talk from my parents either. just a few little things here and there

when i was going out anywhere that she knew a girl would be, or when she would ship me back to college, she always did the "you know your responsible if a girl gets pregnant" thing. mom tends to use the blunt fear tactic

The only stuff I remember is:

My parents often confuse judgment with reality. So, growing up, I believed you couldn't have a baby unless you were married. I remember
really being shocked when an unmarried girl in seventh grade got pregnant. I actually thought it was a physical impossibility.

Also, when I was probably in second grade or so, one of my brothers at dinner talked about a girl in his high school who got in trouble for
passing a note to her boyfriend saying "I can't wait to suck your cock this weekend." I was pretty horrified and asked, "Why would she
want to do that!?"

Never got an answer.

I remember being pretty damn young and being handed a book about the whole thing. Complete with artsy-fartsy illustrations/paintings. It had pictures of everyone naked alone and it had pictures of people actually doing it as well... but not pornographic stuff. Just those painting things that you might see in an art gallery titled "Lover's Embrace" or something like that.

We didn't even have sex ed. It wasn't even touched upon in biology or anything.

I have no idea what parents are thinking, sometimes.

But my parents really didn't raise me or teach me anything, anyway. Not about hygiene, finances, sex, goals, nothing.

My Mom talked to me. I can't really remember all she said but she basically reviewed to what sex ed was going over already with me while I was in 6th grade. She added to it that also it would be best if I waited until I really cared about someone, and when I do finally decide to to be safe about it (i.e. condoms) and to be on birth control.

I was like "lol yeah right ew as if I'd ever do that!"

But once I got older and that kind of thing started becoming a possibility, I listened to her.

Dorothy Wood
11-08-2007, 11:14 AM
according to my mom, at age 3 I loudly asked her how babies were made at arby's in the food court at the local mall. and she started quietly telling me, but as my curiosity increased, my voice got louder, so she made me wait until we got home to tell me the rest.

also, I apparently was under the impression that men gave birth to boys and women gave birth to girls. :o hee

after that, she pretty much just answered whatever questions I had. I had sex ed in 3rd and 6th and 7th and 9th grade too. I also (secretly) watched HBO's Real Sex when I could. I was pretty educated.

every once and awhile and still, my mom will feel the need to explain something. like when I was 19 and we were watching something that alluded to a boner and she was like, "you know they get hard right, and stuff comes out?" and I was like, "YES, MOTHER I KNOW WHAT PENISES DO AND WHAT SEMEN IS! STOP TALKING NOW!" and she was like, "welllll, I'm just checking, you're not having sex are you?!". "MOMMMM!"

and so on.

In fourth grade I tried to impress my cousin by telling him I had done "it." He asked me about it, and I described everything. He uneasily
pointed out that the vagina wasn't located in the front, but, instead, between the legs. I maintained that that wasn't true. He said his
parents had explained things to him. I changed the subject.

abcdefz

No, they never said anything about that.

Only one time did their complete indifference to me come back to bite 'em on the ass:

They wouldn't let me take driver's ed for whatever reason, so I got my license later, etc. So anyway, one time I was driving one of our cars
and it overheated. I went and got some water and poured it into the radiator like I figured I should, and the block cracked. My dad later was
yelling at me about "How could you pour water into a overheated radiator without letting it cool down first!?" and my response was, "Dad,
how would I know that?"

I think they just assumed that, by osmosis, I'd know shit like this. Fortunately, in this case, my mom actually took my side.

My girl cousin... it's funny how this thread is bringing up memories.

At Thanksgiving, we'd get together at my grandparent's house (on my mom's side; my dad's parents were in Florida at this point).

Anyway, the kids were usually steered to the furnished basement while the adults hung out upstairs.

Anyway, my sister and my cousin Janet were downstairs with me. I was probably ten or eleven. Anyway, apparently my sister noticed that I
had been getting erections or something, because she had Janet sit on my lap for a bit. I got hard. They took turns for a little while before
I realized that they could feel my erection, and that they were maybe teasing me, so I told them to stop.

Still not completely sure what that was about. Exploration, I guess.

My parents never talked to me about sex. I sorta stumbled upon everything I needed to know (or what I thought I needed to know) about it over the years. As kids, my friends and I traded bits of of information and swiped the occasional porn video from wherever. I first found my dad's Hustler/Penthouse stash when I was around five or six. I guess he must have figured that either my brother or I had been digging through it at some point because he moved it soon after. Then I found it again. So he moved it again. And again. And again. This continued for like 10 years. He never talked to me about it or asked me to stop or anything, so it just went on. Then I eventually moved out. And now I know how to make babies.....really well.

we were actually simulating nursing on her tits while she laid on her side like an actually dog would. she still had her clothes on and shit but there were visible wet spots were we had been sucking on her tits. she got red all over and got all weird and left the room and didn't come back. me and the other girl just got up and played zelda like something weird just didn't actually happen.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" or whatever... i still laugh when i remember the end of our talk:

right before i got up from the table, i sighed and was like "well that's gross. i'm glad humans don't have to do that!" (throughout the talk, i was asking questions about puppies so that's what i assumed we were talking about, i guess.) she kind of laughed and was like "um. yeah they do, sweetie."
