Last wednesday, in a little town of Jokela in southern Finland, a guy got bored with human race and started deleting (http://rstvideo.com/2007/11/07/jokela-high-school-massacre-1172007/) unwanted people,
calling himself a natural selector.
He was a loner (of course...), with the best papers in school, and both extreme left and extreme right wing influences.
He'd just gotten a weapon license when he turned 18 (they wouldn't give him a license for the weapon he wanted as he was inexperienced).
He'd put a video on You Tube (attention seeker) of him practising shooting (http://www.metro.se/se/article/2007/11/07/18/3119-45/index.xml) and on the morning of the massacre, even all his plans.
He first shot the principal (after she'd announced on the speakers for people to hide, so guess he'd been threatening her first) and then going
berserk at school shooting over hundred bullets. Seven died straight away, one lethally wounded, and several were injured after they
jumped out the window to get to safety.
After about 20 minutes he locked himself in the toilet and shot himself in the head. He died later in the hospital.

And of course he had to get some copycats (http://www.metro.se/se/article/2007/11/09/14/3354-45/index.xml) straight away.
At a school just a couple of kilometers from me some kids had threatened the principal yesterday, but they didn't have any guns,
just gun magazines... (?) but they were arrested straight away (they had been threatening before so they thought better be safe than sorry).

i read an article about this earlier in the week and was gonna post about it. but then i thought to myself... who the fuck gives a shit about finland? tal?

I was shocked when I heard about this. It might sound odd, but I am glad I was. I'd never like to become blasé about this (or any) type of horror.

That's a quote from one of the kids in the school.
When Finland finally got rid of the Russians they (Finns) eagerly tried to change their lifestyle and started to copy Americans, thus there was Jenkki (Yankee in Finnish) bags, chewing gums etc, and especially the 50's lifestyle hit hard.

The kids in the school near me said exactly the same. Just a while earlier they'd been asking for blueprints of the school grounds and one of them had been grounded from school because of threatening a girl with a knife. One of the school curators (or whatever they are called in English) broke the woe of silence after that remark (and as the guys had gotten more inwardbound and silent) and those two guys got arrested. Over the weekend police confiscated their computers and they are acused of planning a murder/massacre.

There had been warnings of the Finnish massacre as well in some website, but who does notice things like that? Not the right people... At least here the people (school nurse, curator) at school were attentive and propably prevented another massacre... and it's just down the road for me.

when i was in the 8th grade my friend brought a gun to school and then threatened to shoot me if i told anyone. so i didn't tell anyone.
then i got in trouble for not telling anyone. I DIDN'T WANT TO GET FUCKIN SHOT. jesus.
