this guy i worked with, well, he's a pretty swell guy, and he recently left my work. we got along well enough at work, didnt do toooo much talking on account of the work environment didnt really allow actual conversation and that we really didnt work that much together, but basically he was pretty awesome and it greatly saddens me that he's gone.

anyways, he got transferred to another store thats going to be running in a different kind of way, i wont go into the logistics of it, but i was thinking it may be better for my class schedule next semester, and so i got his phone number with the intentions of calling him to ask about working over there. now it's looking like working there wont be in my best interest for this spring, but i kinda want to call him anyway just to shoot the shit and to have the potential to hang out with him.

only thing is im afraid my calling would be awkward as shit. i mean what do i say? i feel like it would come off as "hi im creepy and i got your number through someone else cause i feel like we're friends even though we never really talked all that much and i'm some kind of weirdo that stalks people that they meet and find interesting"

discuss.

This is why they invented text messaging.

It's less creepy. Unless it's not a cellphone.

In which case you're just going to have to admit that you're that wierd stalker that's been going through his trash.

Just call him up and ask him how the atmosphere at the new store is. Tell him you were thinking it might be a better place for you for next semester but you wanted to talk to someone who is actually there first. Then towards the end slip in something like "it's been really nice talking to you again; I know we didn't get to talk much when we actually worked together, but you always struck me as a great guy."

Then, let the conversation end.

Give it a few days and then call him and say you've thought it over but actually maybe the other store isn't the right move for you, but hey do you maybe want to go have a beer sometime?

Yeah! Or you could offer him money, I dunno, to talk to you. If you don't have much money, offer him a gift of cooked food or a small kitten. That'll win him over, I know it'd win me over. It's got to work!
