Since Jess hasn't come back to organise it for us, I will volunteer.

If you're in, pm me your name and address by Sunday November 25. (That's the end of Thanksgiving weekend for you US peeps.)

I think we usually set the max value at somewhere around $10 US - use your own discretion, little more, little less, whatever you are comfortable with.

Remember to take postage into account, you may be given a person who is on another continent to your own! If you feel like you want to take part but are concerned about the cost to mail abroad, let me know and I will set you up with someone closer to you where possible.

Not last year, the year before Jess also sent out a list of addresses of people who wanted to swap christmas cards. That was nice.

It always makes a pleasant change to get some nice mail for once rather than bills. (y)

i'm tossing around the idea of participating in this for the first time. i never did before cause i didnt want packages to come to my house, and my dad to be like "oh whats that package" and i have to be like "oh some internet people sent me presents"

only thing is im pretty horrible at presents, and also, im pretty horrible at remembering specific details about most everyone up here.

so if i do decide to do this, i apologize in advance to whoever's name i get. expect random shit.

i just gotta figure out how to receive packages over the break. the dorms close, and normally when we get packages they sit at the post office near school anyway, and the post office just puts a card in your mailbox telling you to go there, but like, since i'll be out of town for three weeks, i dont know if they'll hold it at the post office for that long or not.

I think you just address it as

City State (city's main post office zip code)

-- or you could also fill out the post office form to have your mail put on vacation hold for however long. They usually have the option of
delivering it on the date of your return or letting you pick it up at the post office when you get back.

I think it's a pretty standard service in most countries. You just show up with your government-issued I.D. and pick up the package.

But people should check with their local post office or something to make sure.

I know that Jess did the Christmas card thing in the past, but I'm not up to compile it this year. I know some people aren't comfortable with their names and addresses going onto a master list that goes around to too many people. So it's just the present thing this year - that way your address only goes out to one person. Well, one person besides me. And I will delete all addresses from my inbox after the holidays.

I never got my present last year either btw. But I'm over it now.
