something in the same vein as final fantasy 7 and super mario 64 did. for me it was half life 2. god damn that game was great. bioshock came close, but i'm not that impressed by it.

not for the same reasons, but resistance on ps3 was the last game to do this because it was the first ps3 game I played at home in glorious hi def-ovision (y)

Bioshock was definitely amazing...but what's blowing my mind right now is Super Mario Galaxy.

Resident Evil 4 did it for me when it first came out.

I just ordered Super Mario Galaxy, so that might finally get me excited about playing a particular game instead of just finding it good.

Sunshine was no slouch....it was a great game, just not up to Mario 64 standards. So far, Galaxy is.

max payne - the shells never dissolve into nothing, every bullet-hole stays and doesn't dissolve, dead bodies don't dissapear... it's hard to find fault.

MGS3 was plenty-fuckin awesome too.

the new dragon ball z: budokai tenkaichi 3. seriously, i am positive there isn't a fighting game that could ever be as in depth as this one.

whoever said something about mario galaxy, it's ridiculously fun. wayyyy better than sunshine, but i hated that one. seriously, you clean shirt with some dumb water backpack. but in galaxy, he has like all his 64 moves and the ones from the new super mario bros on DS. it's really good.

For the past couple of years, I have almost no time to play games, but I bought Super Mario Galaxy this morning and I just love it. I've always had a thing for Mario though. :o It's going to take me a million years to get through it because I can't play often and I'm not that good at it, but it sure is cute! And Mario walks upside down!

By the way, this is the first time that I have found myself trying to contort my body to play a game. I feel like the people in the wii commercials. :)

i guess i would have to say bioshock. that game was dope. im currently playing fifa 08 and star wars lego: the complete saga. fifa is hard though so mainly star wars lego gets most of my free time.

Bioshock has prompted me to purchase a 360 (as the one I used before was my former roommates). The art deco design and style of the game is so fucking cool.

I saw a commercial for Call Of Duty 4 on TV earlier and I went 'FUCK' and 'Jesus' in a 'that looks really good' sort of way

In no particular order: Max Payne, God of War, Mafia, GTA 3, ISS Pro Evolution, Advance Wars, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Doom.

edit: *cough* last one eh? That would have to be Shadow of the Colossus then.

i think that's my answer for this thread too, except i've actually played it. it's too damn short, but i've still played it over and over again like a dozen times, the missions are that cool. the multiplayer's fun too, but they really put a lot of effort into the single player, and it payed off. hopefully there will be an expansion pack before too long. the one for the original call of duty was great, i still play that today.

my computer can't quiiiiiite handle the game though. i turn the settings relatively low, and the game still looks great, and it performs excellently, but it overheats my laptop. on two occasions, my laptop has just shut down in the middle of playing the game. not crashing mind you, it just turns off. i press the button to turn it back on, but nothing happens, i have to give it a couple minutes to cool down before i can turn it back on. that's a little troubling

still i'd say the game was worth it

I just ordered a Wii for my kid for christmas.

I'm kinda hoping it inspires me to get into video games again because I haven't been interested since Liberty City Stories.

I've been playing Mario Galaxy a lot since I got it and while it's a ton of fun it reminds me too much of Super Mario 64 to really feel like something completely new.

That said, freakin awesome game.
