so she says "stop being a grumpy socialist and be my boyfriend".
: |
to which I said "how about I'll be myself. and if that's good enough for you, then great".
I'm sick and tired of flexing myself to other people's fancy and whims. I bust my hide each and every day and failed in my last relationship because I chased around my tail trying to be the best husband I could be, only to have her abandon me and the kids. I'll be god damned if I let that happen again.

is the grumpiness and socialism correlated?
can you be a non-grumpy yourself?

possibly a sabotage, but I don't think so.
I wouldn't say I'm grumpy, I'm more "fed up with the way things are run" and I often vent on this message board (for example) on how I feel people are not being responsible raising their kids and how the working class in america needs to be better empowered and such. I think that's what makes me a "grumpy socialist".
To all of you, this is the way I've always been. I bitch and moan about things but typically never attack any one person and also try to make a difference by changing things in my immediate world.
That being said, I don't want to ever hide that part of myself again, the part that grumbles about how kids nowadays don't have resepct for anything and that our country is a swirling mess and how I don't trust the French.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very often a nice fellow. I'm a ballbuster and a good time to go out with. And I typically don't half ass dates and have never heard any complaints in that area.
Ramble, ramble, ramble. I <3 my internet outlet.
my wife and i were making fun/trading insults of eachother this morning and I said "Everytime you open your mouth I get annoyed".
and yes this has nothing to do with anything.

No, but it was said in a chill ball-busting kinda way. But I could sense the passive aggressive-ness.
I've had a tough week. I'm pooped out and I need some R&R, so I'll get on my podium alot when I'm under duress. Normally I'm happy-go-lucky.

I require my significant others to go above and beyond in the "listening skills" department
Im a fucking ranty asshole, and its a daily thing
I rant about mundane things as well as the big picture type topics, and it can at times be tiring as my significant other.
I just like expressing myself fully, no matter the topic and alot of times this can come off as "anger" but as long as the person can differetiate between anger towards them and anger towards the topic then all is well.
I have lots of other good qualities that make up for it...I think :(

I'm not allowed to bitch about unimportant things. I get an alllright, okay, calm down. or if I'm saying mean things about a person I always get called out.
unless we agree on what or who is hated.
sometimes it's good to have someone check you on stuff...but the way she put it sounds kinda homo.

Yeah, that's frustrating. I get heated about things too and the fiance just says, "Why do you let things get to you so much? Jeez, its just a joke/he's an asshole/you're making too big of a deal out of nothing."
Whatever. I am a complicated person and I feel some things pretty deeply and damn it if I'm gonna squash it.
It sucks, though, because it would be nice if every once in awhile he'd just say, "Yeah, that really does suck, doesn't it? What a world we live in."
Btw, got the cd today. Its mad real.
