I used Feisty Fawn for some time. Lots of problems with Opera and Firefox. Gaming in Wine didn't work so well (crashing after 5 minutes, various other shit). I haven't used gutsy so i can't speak of that.
I installed it the other day to see if my internet problems were fixed. (I'm having a lot of loading problems for websites and things i download through my browser. A lot of my downloads stop at 99%).
It actually did seem to fix it, I had no problems...then I installed a program called "moblock" (after it taking some time to figure out how to install stuff in ubuntu) and I had tons of loading problems, if anyone has advice on how to uninstall it then that would be very helpful.
Another issue I had was trying to find a good music player. I have 100+ albums and I use foobar with this (http://xs413.xs.to/xs413/07123/foobargsmanim.gif) set up. It lets me load a playlist of all my music, sorts it alphabetically by artist and then album by its release date and its usually set up to play a whole album then randomly pick another album and play that, etc. I couldn't find any that matched this in linux.

you may be able to remove it thru Synaptic.
Firefox is kinda meh on it. Seems to hang a lot which is kind of irritating

I never had any problems on it. Windows however, over the past few weeks, has frozen with the occasional crash. Coincidently the last crash happened when I was writing my last post. The memory use seems to go upto about 250mb, then crash. They've apparently fixed some of the memory leaks with the new beta of firefox
Is Synaptic one of the things that comes with ubuntu? If so, that doesnt seem to find moblock. Neither does the "add/remove program" thing. But when I open up the install file it says that it is already installed :\

I've been using it for a while now, I recently switched to Ubuntu Studio Gutsy. I must say I'll never switch back to Windows (mostly because I'm too cheap).
faz, your moblock problem: you could probably uninstall it from the terminal using sudo apt-get remove, but I'm not really sure of the package name or whatever. As for the music player, have you tried Rhythmbox?

I just got berated by a Linux-fanatic for my non-usage of Linux. I dont get it. Then again im in the multimedia business and its hard to get programmes that run on Linux.
Whats the appeal/advantages?

mainly the appeal is the open source aspect. Theres about 10,000 different versions of Linux and if you dont like one you can tweak/get a different one.
Main reason I started using it is security. Most virii/spyware programs are written for Microsoft machines. I like Ubuntu because it has a simplistic feel to it...kind of like the Mac OS but it can be very complex depending on what you want to do with it.

Ok, so I found the issue. Apparently moblock (its a program like peergardian. Blocks out bad ips) is set up, by deafult, to block http and https connections. I've found out how to fix this but I've hit a problem. Essentially I have to manually edit the config file, how ever when I try this it says "You do not have the necessary permissions to save the file." and I cant figure out how to change permissions. I'm logged in as the admin too :\
Edit: Fixed it. Took my time, and not quite sure how, but I fixed it :) I wonder what windows is doing wrong, as I dont share the connection issues here that windows does.
