I suppose all geeks at somestage in their life face the "switch to Mac" dilemma. I want a new laptop, but im kinda sick of Windows and Microsoft in general. Im terrified of getting Vista because of all the horror stories and all around me i see Windows laptops that have gone to shit after 2 years and constantly need the OS reinstalled and then i see my mac-based friends who have had macbooks or ibooks for years now and they are still going strong.

I suppose the cons are the price (i could get a similar spec windows laptop for probably half the price), the lack of software (i hear OpenOffice doesnt run very well on it) and the fear ill turn into one of those holier-than-thou anti-PC cunts who i hate.

So, any mac users here? Do you swear by them? Anyone NOT like them?

oh yeah, mac laptops are so sexy and cool. I have a two year old powerbook and it still looks as awesome as the day I bought it, including me covering it in 123klan stickers (y)

But i'd love a new black macbook

you see, its the sexy and cool thing that would put me OFF buying one. I dont want to be the type of person who buys a computer because its cool. ANd computers are never, ever, sexy.

ANd in an amazing coincidence i have a 123Klan sticker on my laptop. I got it in an issue of Computer Arts. 8)

vista is starting to get better. much better with the new drivers from the hardware manufacturers and updates from microsoft. xp was in a worse state than vista when it first came out and now xp is pretty damn stable now. i've had vista and xp installed on my pc for a while now i don't even use xp anymore. somethings especially the much older things will not work on vista though.

if you do get a vista based laptop, get a 64 bit based one and wait till the first full survice pack comes out within the next couple of months.

i bought it mainly because everyone in graphic design has a mac. Plus I've got about £2000 worth of apps that onnly work with macs so that was another major benefactor.

Of course macs are sexy, well sexy from a design point of view!

Snap on the sticker, is it blue and magenta?
