it seems like a pretty awesome job, in a "it'll never happen" kind of way. it's sort of a fantasy i've been throwing around for awhile. i realized last night that it's probably cause my dad used to be a cop. he quit when i was like 5. i never really thought about it when i was having my "i want to be a police officer" thoughts, but i saw a cop last night with a uniform like my dad had (the all black kind, not the black and blue) and it made me feel like giving him a hug or something. but you gotta be careful when you hug someone with a police uniform so that you dont rub your face across the badge or pull the radio coil-y wire thing. anyway, that made me realize that that's where my liking of police officers comes from.

i wonder if it's much different/harder for a lady police officer. it's a very guy job to have.

i dont *think* and of you are fuzz, but if you or a friend are... any details on the whole process of becoming a cop? you never see things in the news paper like "police officer wanted"

that's why i threw in "hypothetical"

although we could make a lean mean crime stoppin team. i bag 'em and you make sure to keep 'em off the streets. then when i get in trouble a few years down the line for being a loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules, you can pull a few strings to keep me out of the slammer. you'll warn me to stop looking into the del fuego cartel since chief too my badge, but i just can't let them get away with this bob!

I used to want to be a cop when I was 7, watching Starsky & Hutch.

I could quite happily hang out with Huggy Bear at The Pits, steal Cap'n Dobey's candy bars and rock the adidas, denim flares and drive the Torino

Kojak made it looked good too.All he had to do was be bald and suck lollipops

Be a cop. I was going to be a cop for ages, but then they arrested me, so I changed my mind. I'd still possibly join the cops in a few years though. You get to carry a gun and stuff. If I become a cop, I won't be a cop in Europe though, I'd move over to US or Canada and do it there. I hear in Calgary they were needing cops badly so were taking foreigners. I'm a good foreigner aswell, so they'd definately take me. I'd be a bad ass copper.

there is a shortage of cops everywhere. I think its the same in the states. as long as you can run that 10 minute mile, yer in.

actually i think for chicks it may even be a 11 minute mile.

anyways, my friend became an RCMP officer about a year ago and she got through the training easily and got stationed in a very rural area near here. but because of the shortage she has to do her shifts by herself with just the next lone officer taking care of the nearest other rural sector as her backup.

she never runs intro "trouble" and its mostly boring and she has to deal with weird country stuff. but she said the majority of her work comes during highway accidents. and even in the short time shes been an officer shes told me some gross stories about what she has had to see because she is normally the first on the scene.

yeah, my grandma was an emt, my dad was an emt, then a firefighter, then a police officer. my mom is a nurse in the ER. i know it's not all riding around and drinking coffee. it's a lot of riding around drinking coffee, a fair amount of yelling at drunks, with some gross shit thrown in. my dad said once this car got hit by a train and it was his job to wade around in the ditch by the tracks and look for pieces of the guy. ewwww.

my grandma would pretty much never let me do anything ever cause she was always picking up kids who hurt/killed themselves being stupid kids. my dad just has this thing where i cant drink with a straw in the car. i dunno what he saw happen to soemone drinking out of a straw that got in a wreck, but yeah. be careful with your straws. he also has an aversion to me eating blue raspberry blowpops because of the color they make my mouth. other than that he seems fine from his days of looking at disgusting shit.

she told me about a guy who ended up with the spedometer implanted in his chest. and then I heard enough of that story.

I've thought about becoming a policeman a lot, I even did two weeks work experience with them. It wouldn't be for a long time if I did though, my current lifestyle/attitude is noooo compatible with the police. I would need to grow up/become more boring.

pffff.... my dad's not responsible at all and he loved being a cop

mostly cause it got to get in fights with people on nearly a daily basis

he's got lots of great stories. maybe not things that were great when the happened, but they made great stories later on. like the drunk that woudlnt stop shitting his pants and they made hime a suite out of trashbags to wear in the cop car so as not to get shit everywhere.

he used to come home with cuts all over his face. my mom made him quit his job because of it being "too dangerous"

except he loved his job, he has no formal education, and every job since then has been pretty shit. now he drives a concrete truck. i think he'd have been much happier staying a police man.

It's not about responsibility, although I am quite unresponsible (I missed work on Saturday because I was on a comedown) and I would most likely enjoy the danger. It's mainly about the fact that if I was tested tomorrow they would find high amounts of weed, cocaine and MDMA in my blood, and I don't think they like that kind of shit in HM Constabulary.
