but what would be a good, decent priced LCD monitor that could be used for:
1) hooking up to a PC
2) hooking up to a 360
3) hooking up to a Wii

this is probably the best monitor on the market that isn't more than a grand if you're willing to spend that much.
it has DVI for pc, HDMI or VGA for 360 and component for wii. it also has composite and s-video for tv. those are the things you'll need to hook all that shit up all at once. you can find other monitors at lower resolutions and lower specs for less money that have the same hookups.

well if you want all those hookups it looks like you'll need to spend atleast 450-500
all the ones in the 200-300 range only have a DVI hookup and VGA hookup leaving your wii without anything to to connect to unless there's a vga adapter or dvi adapter for wii's.

that's the least expensive one with all the hookups you need. it's a real good monitor other than the fact it has a gloosy finish to the screen that creates a shitload of glare but it does come with speakers.

get an lcd tv. i'm using a samsung 32" but i'd go 40" if i could afford it. i'm sitting on the couch posting this at the moment, a couple of meters from the tv, and everythings nice a clear. plus with those gaming things you get the hdmi output i think, which would be pretty nice. bonus = hdtv if u watch tv
ps samsung has computer input. i think lots have tho. i'm really happy with mine (y)

any suggestions on a cheap LCD with reasonable quality?
i just want to get something to replace the old time clunker that takes up half my desk, and i'm not usually too picky

when looking for an lcd, the main important things to look for are:
contrast ratio
brightness
viewing angle
resolution
the higher raiting for each equals a better monitor.
the most important one is probaly viewing angle. that should be damn near close to 180 degrees. the closer the better.
contrast ratio should be atleast near 800-1000. the higher the better the picture looks when there's darks and brights next to one another and not make the picture look washed out and faded. i've seen monitors with contrast ratios of 2000+.
brightness is well the brightness. the higher the rating the brighter the monitor can be adjusted to.
the higher the resolution the more shit you can fit on your screen and the sharper the picture. lcd's work best at their highest resolution. not everything can work at the lcd's highest resolution so you need to make sure you can find one that displays other resolutions well. not all lcd's can display other resolutions other then their highest all that well.
