View Full Version : The Boosh Series 3

Sucks so far :(

It's so much darker than the other two series and while I can see that progression happening, now they make references to rape, and they're actually killing people off and shit. Even the part with the moon, the moon looks sickly now.

They should have only done two series.

the first episode was ok, second tho was absolute crap. who know's hopefully they'll get better. for some reason i'm really starting to hate Noel Fielding

Noel is becoming whore-y. He was never my favorite anyway, I mean I do love him but not like the other guys.

I thought the opposite about the episodes. The eel one hardly even had a plot. I wish they would stop using the Hitcher, and what was the deal with how they didn't even give him the same nose/chin, it was just Noel in green makeup? I donno. Weird. I don't know if they're running out of characters or what because the first two seasons was full of stuff they'd already come up with for their radio show and now I think they're starting to dig at the bottom of the barrel perhaps?

I like to analyze this stuff :o

I might get the series 1 and 2 set, it's really cheap now, about £12 or thereabouts.Haven't caught any of the new series yet but interesting comments and yeah especially about the fact that some things shouldn't be dragged out, keep them short-2 series then move on,just like The Young Ones,Fawlty Towers, the Office (uk) and such

it's great.

only thing i'd say is they should have ditched the moon. Series 1 and 2 we're very different, so they should have kept that up by making this series much more different than 2. I.e. ditching the moon.

But, its still great.

What do you think is so great about it? just curious, I don't know what I'm missing here. Did you honestly laugh during that long ass Hitcher scene? I thought it was way over done. And do you think the moon is the only thing to ditch, when they keep bringing back characters? I don't know, it bugs me because that character kidnapped them in season 2 but now he's back as a somewhat different character. They can do whatever they want obviously they like to mess with that stuff but I just wonder why they're re-using them. Same with the evil jazz guy.

I don't think it's horrible but I don't think it lives up to my expectations of them. I hear the third episode is amazing though.

He's always on t.v over here. Chat shows, panel shows, other shows he is plugtastic.

DandyFop

Yeah he and Julian really are quite different. Julian is hardly ever on that stuff, he's got kids now and Noel is out on the scene partying it up with (barf) Courtney Love.

I watched David Cross on Noel's team for Nevermind the Buzzcocks and it was officially a "worlds colliding" moment. David looked so lost the whole time (thanks TAL for showing it to me)

Even when Julian goes on those kind of shows he seems very quiet and introvert.

Have you seen him in Nathan Barley?

Oiiii I fucking love that show to death. Just watched it all again recently. Truly brilliant that is. You don't know who to despise more! Julian really is great in that.

Peace and fucking. Believe.

Well, the Hitcher pops up in every series, I like the fact he does that. I dunno

Yeah, I laughed during most of it. and bits I didnt laugh at I had a big smile. Its exactly my kind of humour I think. Possibly a bit more crude this series, but still funny.

Regards characters coming back in different forms, I dont think they care about continuity much.

Ha ha awesome!!!

check out www.trashbat.co.ck lol

The funny thing about that show is how much of me and my mates resemble Nathan Barley in a little way. It was like watching a really magnified version of what I do day to day. You could here the sound of cringing designers up and down the country

Why not? It's only the same as someone in a mundane office job seeing a little of the characters in the office show in themselves

I guess I felt that with the first and second series he was the same character, he had the henchmen and all that but it seemed like they were somewhat trying to make it a different one in Eels which I found odd. I guess I'm just sick of that character.

I didn't like the references to rape or him peeing on Howards face or the jazz guy actually killing the punks. I can't recall them ever really killing or hurting anyone on the show before and I don't like that twist. The thing I love about them is they don't have a need for crudeness to accomplish their humo(u)r, and when it's added in it feels very uncomfortable to me.

How often have you seen buzzcocks? Because that's how almost all of the american guests look. I actually thought David Cross was doing quite well in comparison to other american actors/comedians who seemed to look like they had no idea what kind of freakish show they'd ended up in.
I love those moments. Confuse the Yanks! :D

btw, have you ever seen the Boosh live show?
I didn't really like that and think it can be compared to series 3 (though I've only seen 'Eels'.) It also takes place in the Nabootique, has the hitcker come back and be disgusting and it's mainly rehashing jokes that people seemed to love from the first 2 series. Rich Fulcher is brilliant though. I love how he just comes up with stuff that's so mental it confuses the other guys.

It's a crying shame, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be. Episode 1 was somewhat funny, but 2 and 3 have barely raised a chuckle, let alone a guffaw.

Please go away, Boosh, before I see you in the same light as The Simpsons or Dawson's Creek*

*Lies, Damn Lies - Dawson's Creek remained brilliant til the very end.

the live show is amazing! I really like it.

In fact Rich Fulcher, despite being good, is probably my least favourite part of the show.

I've seen ep. 1 and 2 from the new series - and I thought they were pretty good. In my opinion the highlights of any Boosh episode is just whatever trivial banter comes up between Noel and Julian. The "sales pitch" bit with Nevel Bamshoe and the stationery village was pretty brilliant I thought. Some of the stuff inside Vince's body was funny.

Bringing back the Hitcher and Spirit of Jazz was medium weak though, definitely. Is Noel a douche? It's hard to tell. Vince as a character has a lot of swagger and ego.

All in all, the truly important parts, the dialogue, still kept me interested. I think they're just getting off to a rocky start.

Didn't "Nannageddon" have that old lady killing a handful of people? Even one of the shaman?

I dunno. The Hitcher was a lot more crude in the live version too, so I imagine they're just allowed to get away with more now that they're famous. I hope they don't go too much in that direction, I like watching it with everyone I know.

DandyFop
11-27-2007, 09:17 PM
Yeah that's true, I forgot about Nana.

I have seen the live show, I really liked it but it is very long and took me a few times to get through the whole thing.

Waus, I agree, the banter is still there which is one of the most important things. Their improv skills are ridiculous, I've never seen anything like it. It's just the main plot that's been bugging me so far.

Rich Fulcher is probably my favorite person ever. Did you know he was going to be a lawyer? He graduated law school and everything and then decided he didn't want to do that anymore and started doing comedy. I <3 him. I wrote him some gay message on myspace and he wrote back and was the sweetest guy ever. I have to hang out with that dude some day.

If anyone is interested, I have the Boosh live cd. I was planning on ebaying it, because Amazon sent me the wrong thing (I ordered the radio show and just never got around to returning it). So if anyone wants it, just pm me and I'll sned it to you.

Oh, and according to amazon (I think) the Nathan Barley dvd is region free, if any of my fellow anglo-philes are interested.

Anywho, just let me know if you want the cd, consider it an x-mas gift.

Did you know this story was used by mr.Pegg and Ms.Stevenson in Spaced?
You know, when Brian tells his mum he's a lawyer because he's too afraid to admit he's an artist. That's all about mr. Fulcher.
I also love that his first show was simply called 'Mom, I'm not a lawyer'. :D

Oh and have you heard the Boosh audio commentary? It cracks me up everytime he screams "MOMMY, I'M SEXY!!!"

Awesome! I haven't seen much of Spaced, I have it all but it's next on my list to watch, I'm running this obsession down as much as possible first (now I'm watching UnNatural Acts and Asylum, of course with Pegg and Jessica from Spaced).

I did hear that Julian from Asylum is the basis of the neighbor on Spaced or something? hah.

yeah almost everything Rich does cracks me up. I haven't listened to all of the commentaries yet but some.

Side note: I just recieved AD/BC in the mail and I love it a ton but I can't get it out of my head for the life of me. Especially the fight between the innkeeper and his wife. That show is amazing, seriously. Matt Berry is fucking weird and I love it. The montage of Inns/Bed and Breakfast places and people blows my mind.

the DVDs aren't out in america, and even if you got them you'd need to either have a region 2 dvd player or a program that disables region checks on your computer, but fuck it, find a way to watch it, it's amazing. i think i've seen full episodes on youtube.

w00t! I'm so glad I set the video at my parents' house. I'm gonna have to wait 'til sunday before I can watch it though, but it's gonna be niiiice.

Oh and Spaced is the best sitcom ever, and Man Stroke Woman is indeed quite good. Nick Frost's in it and I really like Meredith Macneal, because she seems to be mental and I that's quite cool.

Episode 3 was classic...

the pre-Crimp-Off dialogue was fantastic. really good episode.

only bad bit was the shockingly-bad Family Guy style bit with Jesus and John the Baptist. Really, really poor.

Rest of it was vintage.
