Our son Wesley Michael was born a little over 8 hours ago. It was a lot different from the first time. The first time, everything happened so fast I hardly even knew what was going on. It was chaos, with like 20 people in the room. This time there was just a midwife and a nurse. We had no idea what we were having, but for some reason, I don't think that any of us were expecting a boy. It was a very exhausting and emotional experience. Now I'm having trouble falling asleep, even though I barely slept at all last night. It could be a combination of the somewhat "uncozy" hospital lounger and the fact that the baby's making a wierd noise through his nose and I feel like he can't breathe properly. Anyway, he's healthy. We're happy. Tomorrow we go home. I'm just hanging in the lobby. Now a nurse just asked me if I wanna step outside for a smoke with her. Life's CRAZY when you're busy makin BABIES.

That's what it's like. At least in my case, too. The first is such an event, and everyone thinks that they have a piece in it.

When I had my second, it was well- easy compared to the social fiasco the first one was. And also physically easier. PS. check back and post...I talked to my God Mom about this...the younger one is always easier to raise. (boy/boy). Best of luck, I'm jealous,

A daughter and a son. Now you've got a rich man's family.

Congrats.

It's what's called "le choix du Roi" en francais, non? A son to inherit the kingdom, and a daughter to marry off to the son of another king, from the days when such things mattered.

congratulations. it must be something else and i imagine life is viewed quite differently when one becomes a parent. i hate to be a downer but i'm sure you're prepared though to kiss most of your money goodbye, especially when it comes to university savings.

That's interesting, I've never heard that reference before.
I just know it's what people said to me after my son was born.

What do they have to worry about? It's Canada!

we may have universal health-care, but post-secondary education keeps getting more expensive.

sorry dandy :( it's just the first thing i thought of. anyways, i'm sure they'll be fine.

Thanks for the nice thoughts and words etc, everyone.

Ava's been dying to be a big sister for about a year now, so this hasn't been a huge adjustment for her. We try to involve her as much as we can when it comes to soothing the baby and stuff. She feels proud when she calms him down. She's hasn't shown any signs of resentment or indications of neglect, so I think things are going pretty smoothly.

Regarding the education savings, we're already counting on paying out the bum for that in the very near future. We plan on moving somewhere closer to one of the better schools in the city. Somewhere not cheap. We're also considering Montessori school for Ava. Either way, we'll be spending. Good thing I have Le choix du Roi!

mickill

She's in stitches over the whole thing.

She delivered naturally again, so it wasn't entirely pleasant. But the recovery hasn't been as rough for her this time around as it was the last.

So yeah, Mr. Mickilljagger. Of course I've checked this thread out, many of time since it's been posted and felt nothing but pure joy for ya.

We may of had our differences and junk back then but, it never meant that I disliked ya.

I was goin through some rough times and events back when I first joined. About the same time as you did. I jumped on here after some crazy ass days and I'll admit, I have gotten argumentive over small shit and such. Can't blame me, I was basically venting in a non-violent way.

Blah, blah, . But hey, you're cool and a great guy and it surely seems like you know what you're doing and where you're heading with it.

Congrats on a perfect family in the making.

Way to go, McKill. Two kids seems sort of unnerving, but I'm sure you'll manage fine, what with the fathering skillz.
