what do people think about them?
recently i've been really getting into stuff by galactic and keller williams
i've more or less exhausted the tunes that i like from phish and dave, and the dead are usually good for a while, but i need something new to check out
i also really enjoyed widespread panic's live show if that helps give a better idea where i stand on these things.
any suggestions?

To answer your question, i try not to think about them.
Listen to Television.

I saw Dinosaur Jr last night and, damn, Mascis is probably my favorite guitar player ever.
If you're into instrumental proficiency, yeah, I agree, listen to Television. However, as far as people who are still up and at it are concerned, try to see Dinosaur Jr before this tour is over. It was the loudest show I've ever been too, though, so bring some earplugs.

Can. Miles Davis (circa 1968-1974).
They would just jam like crazy and then edit stuff together.

yeah, miles' in a silent way with herbie hancock...mmm and on the jazz tip, check out donald byrds "new perspective". cristo redentor is probably the most beautiful soulful amazing sound i have ever heard. afterall, there is a definite jazz-style imrpov quality behind jam band music...though usually lacking in any substance.
keller is a great show, a lot of fun!
galactic throws down, but i have seen the same show 3 times from them...they just keep playing the same shit.
greyboy allstars (i also love dj greyboys shit, who i believe put the group together via ubiquity) with karl denson and a bunch of soul-jazz players- they ARE jam band soul jazz.
i think the jam band scene is kind of lame now, i used to love it. i used to eat a lot of acid too though. i will always love to randomly throw on a grateful dead disk though...they do have some really great music, but io cant stand the folk who eat shit and piss that music 24 7.
i think i want to be a dj when i grow up...
