Is it possible to have a primary and secondary soundcard on a PC?

How hard would it be to switch over when i want to use one instead of the other?

You know how XP has different users....if i wanted one user to have one soundcard as a default, and then the other user to use another soundcard as a default...can that shit be done? I don't know shit about that kind of stuff.

the only experience i have with two soundcards is when the soundcard is incoorperated with the motherboard and then there's an adition add on soundcard. in that situation you need to disable the mainboard soundcard 99% of the time to avoid conflicts.

why do you want to do this?

My wifes got her soundcard for her gaming (dunno what kind or any of that) and its not doing what I need it to do for recording my music. So I want to get my sound card with rca, midi, etc. and put that bitch in, and still let her do her thing when she logs in as herself.
