I had the urge to buy it today so I did and I just played as MK Dons v Gretna and Gretna won 1-0.

Shame I haven't got a PS3 yet to play online

I've played it a bit on my friends PS3. it's good fun, but I have yet to play Pro Evo 2008 on the 360 which I expect to be pretty awesome.

buying players in the manager mode is basically impossible. not only do they never let there players go but you have to wait until after the next match to hear of the results of your negotiations. the transfer window is pretty much over immediately after a couple of rounds of talks.

yeah, on FIFA08. teams always come back and say you're trying to "hog all the talent", even when you haven't bought a player for three seasons.

It finally happened this year with football games! Fifa is finally better!! Yes, I cant believe it myself!

I'm talking 360 versions here - the Pro Evo is unplayable on live - the lag is horrible and its horribly buggy. Fifa is a dream online. 5 v 5 games with no lag. Amazing scenes.

I have both now. But fifa is definately better than Pro this year for the first year ever.

I'm not really too concerned with Live. how's it play, say, 2 on 2?

I did a random cup with 64 teams last night and chose MK Dons and lost 3-1 to Lincoln but it was frustrating as they were in red and white and I was in red and I couldn't find out how to change shirts

There's obviously no lag on a game played over 1 console.

It's still shit and buggy compared to last years - and especially Pro Evo 4.

Basically the shootings better, they have made it so certain players can just run through the defence and score most times so you get a lot of games 5-3 etc.

Considering it was always "the proper football fans game" they have made it very arcadey indeed this year.

It's fun, but as a football fan Fifa is just much better this year. It saddens me to say it. It also saddens my wallet to say it as the Pro Evo purchase was a waste of £35 this year.

Hey, the commentary is slightly better (mark Lawrenson on co commentating duties) but you are still sick of it after about 5 matches and you are turning it off.

Yeah Paul - all the menus on Fifa work "up and down" instead of holding left or right.

ah cheers Gus. I wouldn't mind playing it online. Can I do that with my PS2 or do I need a special memory card or something?

You need a network adaptor but only on the old PS2's (I think). Pretty sure the slimline ones can be plugged straight in?
