It's one of the mysteries of the season. I don't know anybody who likes it, but it's in every home.

Fruit cake.
My parents always, ALWAYS!, sent us girls a half fruit cake each.
It was eaten in the last desperate need of something sweet, but it was always oh so dry! and it had cherries in it!
The chocolate in the box that has the maraschino cherry in it that everyone leaves till last....
In Finland they even have these chocolates called Mon Cherie, that's all cherries...

In Finland and in Sweden they have this stockfish, which is some fish (usually cod) that's been "marinated" in lye for ages.
And it's been served with white sauce with loads of white pepper...
You can only guess if it disappeared from the menu as soon as I moved away from home.

I don't like any 'traditional' christmas foods. i.e Mince Pies, Christmas Cake (although i do like to eat the icing and marzipan!), Christmas Pudding. Urgh. They all make me want to heave.

I hate fruitcake and fruitcake hates me. I rather return the fruitcake and get a Beastie Boys CD.
