I know, the fact that I went and saw it only further proves I am the antichrist and I'm only out to delay Jesus' resurrection, but that fucking polar bear fight was pretty goddamn extraordinary. I don't want to give anything away, but I really want to give something away.

Just...Goddammit, just see the movie and be amazed how the fight ends.

Side notes- Daniel Craig wasn't in it enough, Nicole Kidman was actually quite decent, and the little girl acted too much like a badass for only possessing a compass. That's my main complaint. She's acting like she had a vial of crack in Harlem when she had a compass nobody else could read, and her plans were far to complex for her to come up with on the fly. It was still a good movie, but she really wasn't.

And the kid who plays Roger is going to grow up to be one ugly man.

that scene was pretty nice

i was a prety good movie in he end though and i can see wha you mean about the girl, but whatever. i am thinking that the next movie in the trilogy will feature daniel craig a bit more.

the whole religion thing is kind of goofy, but i can see where they are coming from.

i wasn't paying attention to this movie at all, until a friend of mine joined this facebook group called DO NOT SUPPORT THE GOLDEN COMPASS. the description follows:

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released
December 7, 2007. This movie is based on a the first book of a trilogy
by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God
so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his
intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about
killing God."
The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed
to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their
children to see the the movie and that the children will want the
books for Christmas.
The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig,
and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is
crucial that we get the word out to warn people to avoid this movie.

now i kinda want to see it

Yeah, now I kinda do, too. Thanks alot, you heathen!! I'm gonna go to hell because of you and only you. It will have absolutely nothing to do with the life I've lived. It will be all because of you and this evil movie. Well, I hope you're able to sleep at night, Bob.

Hmm. I didn't know about all that stuff, Bob.

I saw it this afternoon and really enjoyed it. My husband jumped out of his skin at one bit. How I, and some children on our row, laughed.

And yes, the bear fight was impressiiiive.

Maybe a couple of blood transfusions and reconstructive surgery if you live.

That was my train of thought too. I only went to see it because I didn't have to pay, and it was totally worth the hypothetical 9 bucks I would've paid. Honestly, you should at least give the DVD a chance because THERE'S A FUCKING POLAR BEAR FIGHT!

A FUCKING POLAR BEAR STREET FIGHT!

If you hate God, you must love gay marriage.

see i dont get what those christian groups are all upset about. i always picture god with a good sense of humor. they say hes all-everything, and theoretically he should have the best sense of humor going.

on that note, i plan on get p.o.d.'edly high one day and checking this film out. maybe even in the imax, although i do not like paying $11 a ticket (maybe ill try and sneak in )

seriously. i mean if i were god, and some uppity non-believer made a movie about polar bears in heavy armor where i supposedly die at the end, i'd think that was hilarious. i'm god, what do i care about this?

I'm not religious by any means so that part wasn't a problem for me,
but I found this movie SO incredibly boring.

BORING!
I felt like the story line wasn't developed as well as it could have and character development was meh so I couldn't give two shits about any of the characters.

The only good part was the end of the bear fight.

Yeah, had I known you were there, I would've looked for your ugly behind too.

But seriously, I don't usually go to the waterfront, but had I known you were there, it would've been cool to see you. One of these days.

bear fight was awesome.
meh, movie was moderately enjoyable for the most part.
does Sam Elliott have to be a cowboy in everything?

answer: most definitely. (y)

ps: Dhano makes a great point about Nicole Kidman.

I never heard anything about this. Never seen any adverts for it. Never heard about the book. But I saw it tonight (for free), and I never enjoyed it (apart from the aforementioned polar bear fight).

Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure if I was into fantasy stuff I would of liked it. How ever, I'm not. I left feeling the same as when I left LORT, very 'meh'.

I wound up with a polar bear in one of my dreams the other night.

Polar bear in my house. I was trying to help it get along with my cat and my dog. Then a cougar attacked it from behind in a bathtub.
