here's a short review (http://www.nme.com/news/led-zeppelin/33079) of the show
while i know it would be asking quite a bit to hope for a full blown tour, it would seemingly be the most exciting thing to happen in quite some time.
i'd love to catch wind of the audio from this show

A friend told me the reports were saying they sounded shite. Said friend can fuck himself in the arse with a potato-masher.
The clips topic from ledzeppelin.com (http://forums.ledzeppelin.com//index.php?showtopic=1505)
Short but great In My Time of Dying (http://www.4shared.com/file/31748840/3e4ca409/IMTD.html)
News Clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv-lW7K66M0)
Part of Black Dog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8v_Rqi4B-E)
Clips are being taken down from youtube it seems. Fucking hell. I'm going to London next year, it would be great to catch them on tour.

Yes Stairway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G_JTMuHOQk&NR=1)
Plant seems to be less of a posturing fuckwit and more a vocalist, as befits the performance he turned in on that Diana Krall album. Good stuff.
This bunch of clips (http://q107.com/media/?id=cilqfm&category=derringer%20-%20video) is alright, too.

It would appear so. what do you think of the clips, turd?
TurdBerglar
12-11-2007, 07:18 AM
the clips are too shit of quality to make much of a judgement. but that stayway clip was spot on, but im not all that interested in stairway to heaven. i would like to see a much better clip of in my time of dying. that's got to be their most powerful song. i was also expecting plant's voice to be a lot worse. and i can't really make a judgement on how well jason did with that audio quality.

Ah yes, you and audio quality.

i would really like to see a cd of this performance and especially a dvd. but knowing led zepp they may never release one or if they do it will be years from now.

I think a DVD of the concert is in the works. Whether it's a package for the tribute (in which case it will be full of stuff I wouldn't care to hear) or just the Led Zepp performance remains to be seen.

from what i heard on the radio this morning, they said they sounded great. i think the only real debatable sound difference would probably be plants voice, which apparently was just fine.
and of all the commentary i've heard so far, nobody has mentioned the drums, so i guess that switch was solid enough

Kashmir (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZxukPZ0pjA)
Trolling around fan-sites, the consensus is that they nailed it, even when they made little flubs. Jason was said to have put in an inspired performance from most accounts; John Paul Jones took on the role of holding the sound together. Really surprised by the quality of Plant's voice. For me, this whole shit is a pretty big deal.

yeah, i saw john paul jones perform this summer and he still had his A game
from a professional standpoint, plant probably sounded better than ever since he seems to have lost a bit of that trademark raspy-ness

I mean they had a prick of a job, all of them. Plant had to hold the voice all show, Page had to nail all the flair (the Stairway solo sounds as close to IV as I've ever heard it performed in concert), Jonesy had to be the glue without Bonzo, and Jason Bonham....well who'd want that job?
Whole Lotta Love (from afar) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE_azOraU34)
first cream, then floyd, now zeppelin. these 'dinosaurs' are completely schooling today's bands, i love it. bloody hell they were spot on, and plant really knows how to effectively use his now limited voice. thanks kid p for the clips, please keep any coming. (y)

I thought he did pretty well. Oh well. You need to get on that home computer and check out Kashmir cause they killed it. And they tuned down Stairway to accommodate his voice and it sounded pretty good (and a bit moodier than normal).
There's a Good Times, Bad Times clip floating about that I'm trying to find.
Edit: cheers for posting it, yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahwho!

They should do a tour with the Stones.
It'd be the biggest thing to happen in music since Kobain.

I think you mean the Allison Krauss album. Unless Robert Plant has done some Diana Krall album sometime ago as well.

It says that it's from Knebworth 1979.
Did they do "Sea of Love?"

That's so funny because I mixed up Alison Krausse and Diana Krall once myself. My brother is a fan of one of them. I have no idea which one.

It must be the "Kra" in the name that trips people up because they're stylistic opposites.

Yeah whoops my bad.
Allow me to redeem:
The Song Remains the Same (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KmqiUSX1jw)
For Your Life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0zQdbrCVC4)
Nobody's Fault But Mine (poor quality but) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFlRJRHi1cg)

alison krauss is pretty delicious (y)
I'm listening to the full show right now. Torrents are fun.
And the sound is good, even better if you fiddle with the EQ a bit.

TAL you brilliant bastard, I hadn't even thought about boots and it's fucking Led Zep. :o
I fucked about with the sound a bit and it comes off not too bad. My favourites are definitely Black Dog, Nobody's Fault, In My Time Of Dying, No Quarter and Kashmir. I like the slower pace of some of the songs, and the down-tuning gives it a much heavier feel too.
I wonder if Mike D went. He's a massive fan (or at least was).

i just came across some led zep rarities and out takes. physical rarities and alternative graffiti are what the two compilations are labeled as on the torrent sites. pretty interesting if you're a big enough fan to being interested in rarities and out takes.
