Wifey got free tickets so we went. I honestly had no idea what to expect, and the "Rather" and "Toodle-Pip" nature of the film was quite amusing until the story got underway proper. A good job was done of establishing the story, and that Knightley bint played a role with maturity and range; two things that have eluded her for the longest. It's a good story, and the film was quite impressively directed. I don't talk about movies much because film tends to bore the shit out of me. I give it 3.5 bloodied stumps out of 5.

I bought the book and started it once. but the narrative style pissed me off so I didnt get past the first few chapters.
I am however excited to see the film because im starting to love keira in period pieces. adore her even.

I'd probably be interested in reading the book.

his language is too flowery and overly wordy to the point of annoyance. I cant stand it. its perhaps the russian literature kick ive been on, anything seems superfluous compared to that shit.
here's a quote:
what she wanted was to be lost to the unfolding of an rresistible idea, to see the black thread spooling out from the end of her scratchy silver nib and coiling into words. but how to do justice to the changes that had made her into a real writer at last, and to her chaotic swarm of impressions and to the disgust and fascination she felt?
aka bletch.
