So far, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone just have Best Songs of '07 (something I'm less interested in... I like to read about the best albums), so I figured now is the right time to compile these official lists and start bitching about their deficiencies and omissions (or even give compliments where it's due).

First "Best Album" list I saw was Spin's 40 Best Albums.

Thoughts?

As more roll in, post 'em!

I still like Boxer and Mirrored more.

I think its bullshit that Strawberry Jam only got a mention on pitchfork. Much better than Person Pitch, which was pretty good.

Edit: Which was pitchforks #1, wtf. I mean it has some pretty fantastic moments on it, but way too uneven to be best album of the year.

My thoughts.

It has some massive highlight songs, but then it'll go off into a few minutes of noisey wankery.

Definitely a top record, but record of the year? I don't know...

I was surprised to see Da Drought 3 get so much love on these lists.

It did deserve it though. I listened to it non-stop when it was released and then Wayne didn't do anything near as good through the rest of the year unfortunately.

For me, it's absolutely a love-hate relationship. I'm genuinely interested to read about what people like and how they rank the albums. Besides, it can serve as a helpful recap for those albums that some of us may have missed earlier in the year.

And I'm quite happy we all disagree. Makes shit interesting. (y)
