Most Christmas music kinda makes me want to drink cyanide laced punch. No really, most of it makes me pretty sad.
not knowing this, a friend of mine made me FOUR xmas cds and sent them to me. wow. one would have been good, but she went all out. and i don't have the heart to tell her that I don't love xmas music, so i just said thanks!
true story.

What type of music?
I mean, Christmas music can be anything from mall muzak to Phil Spector's stuff to Christmas metal, etc.
Yeah, those Sing Along with Mitch albums made me want to puke.
i wonder why all the coffee shops and stuff have to play all christmas music, all the time now? instead of just mixing it in with regular music, it's just all constantly christmas music. there must be some kind of marketing decision behind it, like they'll lose money if they don't, but i don't really understand it. are there people who will walk into a place and go "hey....where's the christmas music? let's eat somewhere else"?

Yeah -- I kinda don't get it.
When I worked at a bookstore, I would sometimes throw on A Christmas Gift for You in the summertime. I got occasional
wtf comments, but I thought it was fun.

Gotta love Silent Night though. There's not many versions that mess it up.

well..just most of it. there's a few here and there...like say Bruce Springsteen doing "merry christmas baby" or "Santa Claus is coming to town", that don't get me down. The old Motown Christmas tunes are pretty cool. and Charlie brown chirstmas is a good tune...though a little somber.
but for the most part I'm not down with christmas music, cause Santa is a fat bitch! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4RQyzypiKQ)
oh and Bob...I don't work in a coffee shop but our radio station that we listen to at work has a nice mix of xmas and regluar stuff. otherwise I'd have to jump out a window.
Paul McCartney's has always been my favorite. :")

Favorite all time X-mas song:
If It Doesn't Snow This Christmas from the album Vincent Laguardia Gambini sings Just For You
*music*
If it doesn't snow this Christmas
How does fat ass get around to us?
Say he breaks down on his way to town
Would they let him use a bus?
I sent him a nice long letter
And I hope it's not vain
I really would feel much better
If the fat fuck flew a plane.
Nothing says Christmas like Joe Pesci singing foul mouthed carols. It simply makes the holidays come alive.
I love it.:D

^^ haa. Hardnox, I've heard a version of that one, but without the cursing.
there's also this little gem courtesy of Tom Waits and some other guy i haven't heard of..
Lyrics to Christmas Sucks by Peter Murphy and Tom Waits:
Oh, give me a noose I can hang from the tree
I need no excuse to end my misery
this holiday season is all the more reason to die.
Oh, pull up a stool and an ear to a fool
once found some solace in the season of yule
this holiday season is all the more reason to cry.
I put on my mittens, one green and one red
and I walk alone where they bury the dead
the snow falls as I breath its a gothic
christmas eve.
The bottle is empty,
the sleigh has a flat,
the striper in my bed is ugly and fat,
her tassles are tangled and what's worse - my jingle won't jangle.
This time of the year makes me sick to my guts
all this good cheer is a pain in the nuts
when it's your career to be down in the dumps
tidings of comfort and joy really suck.
I feel like St. Nicolas is pulling my leg
this thing we call christmas is a sorry black plague
this holiday season is....
... all the more reason to die

I started hating Christmas music with a passion when it was on all day, every day at the dentist office I worked at. I don't know why he insisted it was on, since there's only about 2 hours worth of stuff then it has to repeat, so I'd hear the same goddamn song 4 times a day, and then 4 times the next, and so on.
There's one new "Hey, Santa" song I absolutely hate and want to stab my eardrums out when I hear it. Oh, and some reggae group singing about how "Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day" and I'm secretly thinking, you fucking retards, his birth is celebrated on Christmas, but he was actually born during the harvest which is NOT DECEMBER, pick up a goddamn history book. It's celebrated during Christmas because the holiday was stolen from the pagans who celebrated the solistice. Fuck.
But anyways, yeah. Christmas songs put me in a bad mood. I think it's because they're forcefully cheery and putting it on kinda is a demand for you to be jolly, which I am not, since I'm a cynical asshole most of the time.

Well by the time they're 30+ years old and creating records about Jesus and his birthday, you'd think they would know a little something about him before they started recording.
