View Full Version : don't you hate it when people are completely hostile towards you for no reason?

i especially dislike this because i don't know how i'm supposed to react to it.
i mean, am i supposed to be hostile back? ignore it? or be extra super nice?

i seriously feel really stressed out about this.

You mean going on long-winded rants about anyone and anything? If so, yeah it's stressful. Especially if you're a friend of said person. Me, personally, I try to keep it positive, and sort of ignore the negativity that is constantly pushed out by that person. Otherwise, what will happen is you'll resonate from that negativity that that person is giving out.

Don't hate the game.

I try to tell friends exactly how I'm feeling -- as nicely as possible. Something like, "did I do something to deserve this hostility?" Or if it's a total stranger, "Yeah, whatever."

I've experienced it too many times. Thank god I went through basic training at a young age cause that's pretty much what the whole course is all about- to see how you would handle it and later on, you figure how to manage it.

If the people doing these things aren't important to you then just play head games back with them, what's it gonna hurt?

If they are important to you and you care for them, just sit back, be silent and take it all in. Kinda study them while they harp at you. I know this cause of my wife freaking out and stuff. I asked some questions, sought advice and such and found she has a reason and it's not her fault.

Once you know what's going on with them, dont be afraid to tell them they've got some issues, offer help. Let them know that their bad day isnt gonna ruin your good day.

I think I might understand what you mean. On more than a few occasions I've encountered people who, upon meeting me, an American, seem to like to use the opportunity to go off on a rant about everything that is wrong with the US and everyone in it and how basically everything that is wrong in the world is, therefore, somehow my personal fault. My standard reply at this point is "I'm going to go get another drink; would anyone else care for anything while I'm up?"

Depends who it is.

A male friend: WTF is your problem, your acting like a bastard.

Female friend: I do the nice thing and attempt to help while attempting to stay calm because the above would yield negative results.

Stranger: Try to study them and predict how they will react to my response of the hostility, then pick my move.

It's my chance to be mean.

i agree, but i do it all with quick sarcasm as well... so you confuse them slightly.

I think i might know why it's happening to me. I am in serious need of getting my shit together and getting out of here.

eh, it'll be steep cause that's pretty much the norm over there. The floor I'm renting out has 3 bedrooms and it's pretty huge.

I'm thinking 1,000-1,200. I'll have a washer and dryer in the basement but if I dont know the tenant, they won't have any access at all to the basement.

Hey you know, once i get myself set up and my shit together, i would totally consider it.

I dunno though. Everyone is telling me that's how much I should charge cause it's real convenient.

I could discuss lowering the rent with the wife since you're a friend and all.

Yeah. If you take the path from WTC, it's like 3 stops.
