since my home computer has been broken for several months now, i think i am going to get myself a new laptop to use as my primary computer, and hopefully get the desktop fixed later on for a backup.

so does anyone have suggestions as to what to get in a laptop? or certain brands and what not that i should avoid? my price range is anything under $1,000

First, tell us what you want to do with this machine.

Gaming, word processing, or just porn?

Will you be traveling with it much?

I have a business class HP Compaq that I love to pieces. It's durable as all heck, lightweight, and has a killer battery life.

you're like one of those nazi's on the tech boards...

i think since my other computer is most likely going to be fixed eventually, that will be the gaming machine. so basically i just want to use this thing for the net and to hold that massive pron collection i have in storage....

portable would be ideal, and a good battery is probably something that i would prefer

then go with a pc. it doesn't seem like you need the processing speed of a mac. and see if you can get windows xp as the OS. compusa is going out of business, so you may want to start there. good luck, yo.
