I know there's the "cooking" section, but I'm hoping this can stay where we can post images. But whatever.
Anyway. Let's review microwave food. A lot of us have to rely on this shit from time to time, so maybe we can warn our brethren away
from the bad and point them toward the good.
Rate:
TASTE 1 (worst) -5 (best)
MICROWAVABILITY (did it turn out well in your microwave?) 1-5
PRICE $ (cheap) - $$$$$ (way too expensive)

Dirt cheap (at Foodmaxx, anyway) -- $2.38 for two.
The cheese tasted a little plastic-y; turkey part tasted good, broccoli was kind of hard. The crust was surprisingly good and
microwaved really well, but even though I followed the directions, the sandwich didn't get thoroughly heated on the ends, so
there were the occasional bites of sandwich that were hot on the outside but cold inside.
Kind of slightly funky aftertaste.
Would buy them again in a pinch, but generally, this is a pass.

for xmas dinner i had a microwave amy's vegetarian lasagna.
http://www.bookofyum.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/lasagna.jpg
it was pretty much still frozen in the centre. i mean, there were moments where it was almost warm but yeah mostly frozen.
they were all like "well it said to put in the microwave for 5 minutes, so that's what we did"
god forbid not following the exact microwaving specifications on the packet.

amy's stuff is usually pretty good though, as far as that goes. the cheese enchiladas are the cat's pajamas (i.e. taste good)

yeah, i like amy's stuff too
i had an "ethnic cuisine" chicken tandoori that i liked. i've never had real chicken tandoori though, so perhaps if i had a proper frame of reference i wouldn't have liked it, who knows

i throw most food into the microwave even that one thats not meant to get in there ;)
if i had a guy i would probably take a while to make meals as mouth and eye friendly as possible, not doing much effort for myself cause it's just me and i dont care if i have to beat my own ass after a failure

Much better than the turkey. This was actually pretty tasty, and it was easier to heat (no paper sleeve thingy) and it heated all the way
through just fine.
Recommended. (y)

Man, I lived off of Lean Pockets for a few months back there.
I'd suggest the Chicken Parmesan pockets. Oh, and the chicken and vegetables lean cuisines, and the ravioli lean cuisines.
I can't find pictures. :(

The vegetables held up much better than I would've expected, though they weren't particularly flavorful. All the flavor comes
from the cheese, so if I were to ever eat this again, I'd probably assist it with some cayenne pepper or something.
Heated up fairly well, though a few pieces were cold. Still, not bad.

Much, much better. Not the most complex sauce, but way better than anyone has the right to expect from any frozen food.
The chicken was in good shape, and the rice survived pretty well, too.
Both: dirt cheap (at Foodmaxx, anyway) -- $1.25 each, on sale.

Not a single piece of shrimp. One sliver of red pepper, maybe an inch long. About 1/2 teaspoon of broccoli.
The pasta itself was fine and the sauce was okay.
Big disappointment.
Avoid.

Excellent thread, currently at work all there is in the galley is a tiny microwave, I am giving the El Monterey Taquitos a BUY review

pictured above are the Steak edition, but the shredded beef are equal, the chicken and others do not compare.
TASTE 3.5 (I add sour cream and taco sauce to dip them in....TASTE goes to 4)

Meat was rubbery, veggies watery, bland, mushy and the dessert spilled out into the microwave, which was good, it was such a gluey sticky mess I decided right then I would not be able to eat it. Great photo though, good packaging.
Oh yeah...potatoes were cold and chalky

Without any disrespect to anybody, microwaves sucks!!
It is the worst thing to do if someone want to have some sort of nutrient and vitamin in his/her alimentation. Everything is dead in the food, nothing is there , event the taste suck.
Just saying!! :D

Microwave food is sort of like fast food. Sometimes you have to resort to it, nutritional value notwithstanding. So it's nice to have people
help you separate the wheat from the chaff.

^oh believe me, i am...but I am not accepting of the microwave industry.

But anyway, it is a personal choice, i prefer to take a little more time to cook some nice healthy food.

did somebody say hot pockets (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jFFTwnYXI20)?
but really, the only thing i have considered for the microwave are these things: (and even then i don't really care for them much)

I avoided them at all costs for quite awhile, then tried them out of necessity when trapped on a job, they're HOT AS HELL when they first come out of the zapper and go to your yapper, let 'em cool a bit.
Surprisingly tastier than they appear. Nowhere as good as a real down to earth frozen oven bake, but not bad in a pinch.

I actually LOL'd at this picture. Look how tempting that pizza looks on the box, the melting cheese pulling apart so seductively.
And then the pale thing on the plate...that's just a blatant smack in the face to the trade descriptions act :D

Everything has cheese in/on/around it.
Even the baked potatos.
I find that a bit weird.

If I remembered this thread I so would of taken a picture of it. Especially the part where the greasy paper was stuck to the bread (y)
TASTE 3
MICROWAVABILITY 2
PRICE 3 (4 for £5 across a wide range of ready meals)
To be honest if the offers on next time I do a shop I'll probably buy them again.
