Last night my "friend" Jeremy came over to my friend Melissa's house, and told us that our other friend Brian got put into jail because the cops pulled them over, searched them, and found Brian with a bag on him.
Supposidly they put him in jail, and Jeremy said he got 300 dollars from one friend for bail, but he needed 200 more.
Melissa had the money saved up in the bank, but it didnt open till the morning, so she started making phone calls. Well when she couldnt get the money from anyone, Jeremy managed to borrow it from one kid, but needed the money from her in the morning to pay him back.
So Melissa went with them this morning to get it, and they told her that they needed 300 instead of 200 and she gave it to them. (on top of 200 she'd given to Brian before to get him out of a speeding ticket)
So this is why were thinking it's a bit fishy --
- Brian is a minor, and his parents never got called - Isnt it required that the parents are called if you're a minor?
- He didnt want any parents involved, or anyone to know he was in jail/Melissa borrowed him the money
- They got pulled over for sliding through a yellow light when it was snowy and icy? then they got searched when they wern't acting suspicious?
- He was taken to county, which is about 20 minutes away and Jeremy left to get the money, got Brian out, and was back to Melissa's house within 15/20 minutes?
- Brian has no paperwork, no reciept, and no court date...
-Jeremy refused to call Brian's parents, or go to a bail bondsman...

Yeah she definantly got screwed over - Im pissed.
The question is, how the fuck do I get her money back?

If I remember correctly, Razor, you are in Chicago, right? Then I assume that this guy was taken to Cook County Jail at 26th and California.

OK, as far as all the other shit about parents and whatnot is concerned, I don't know. But one thing I am absolutely positive about is that there is no way on the face of this earth that you can bail anyone out of County in less than an hour. I have stayed at 'Hotel California' on several occasions and I know for a fact that being processed out takes almost as long as being processed in. Cook County Jail is the largest jail in the country and the people that work there are the laziest and slowest. They take their time with everything they do.

Upon being bailed out you are given a court date, time and location in which you must appear otherwise a warrent will be issued for your arrest. This paperwork is given to the person being released after they have changed from the beige DOC's back into their street clothes. I have come across some officers that make you memorize this information before they will let you go therefore, later on, you can't tell that judge that you 'forgot'.

Your friend is full of shit.

As far as getting the money back, I'm not gonna make any recommendations in that area due to the fact that some of my methods of handling situations are the very reasons I was in jail in the first place.

you don't.

i suggest you and melissa find better friends.

if you really want to know what happened call the courthouse
and ask about accessing public records. also a minor can only be
released to a guardian. sure it sucks to be fucked over with cash
but believe me she got off way cheap

Not in Cook county anymore, now I live in Indiana. If he had gone to Cook I would be 100% positive that he would be in there for a long ass time, but Im not sure about Indiana although im sure it takes more than 5 minutes to get changed and get all his shit and paperwork done, and I swear to god they were only gone for 20 minutes at the very most.

You're telling me..

I was considering calling the police station or the courthouse and asking if they could help me out.

And I dont think 500 bucks is considered "cheap" to a seventeen year old girl.

Long story short your friend is a total dumbass for just giving him the money. If you're giving someone that amount of cash then you should at least make sure they spend it on what they say they need it for.

Plus all the shit you just mentioned about him being a minor, etc. Basically if your friend is that dumb she deserved to get fleeced.

^ I realize this, but Im still pissed!!

The kids are like brothers to me. I almost dont want to believe that they'd pull bullshit like this because they've come through for me with everything i've ever needed, but Melissa is pretty much in love with Brian and he knows she'll do anything for him - hence the reason she can give him 500 dollars and not think twice about it.

I dont know for sure that they're lying.. but I know he doesnt intend on paying her back, and the evidence against them is just too overwhelming to look past.

If I knew it wouldn't get paid back then I wouldn't have even thought about giving it to him in the first place.

No i figured he would, but Melissa told her aunt about it and her aunt told Brian he better pay her back and he said he couldnt..

Who would honestly give a teenager $500? I wouldn't even give people $10 knowing they wouldn't return it (n)

they couldn't legally do a search, but they can always ask permission. apparently a lot of people say "yes" even if they're hiding something, because they don't want to look guilty.

Maybe you could start spreading rumors about him? Is this anything like High School musical?

^ pretty sure it's nothing like that...
Nor would I like to take naked pictures of this kid and.... or that could work, who knows...

The only thing im considering is going to his parents... although we really cant prove that he took 500 dollars from her... although there are a lot of witnesses that they asked us for money and said he was in jail that night...

i believe everywhere it's like that, unless arrest itself is illegal

One time an associate of mine asked for $650 to bail him out legitimately for a laundry list of auto violations. I had the money and he was really locked up and I still told him no (seeing how petty he is with money and has a gambling problem and I know he had the money as well), so he called his sister and I have no complaints for not "helping" him out.

Sometimes you gotta say no, why even let them know she was saving money?
