So, what's your favourite song from "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" which, as we all know, is the last song on Paul's Boutique.

Personally, it's, and always has been, "A Year And A Day". Just a beautiful song with great lyrics, a great beat, great everything. MCA is on fire on this track. Quite possibly this is the best that he's ever been IMO (although his verse on "Professor Booty" comes close). I always liked the way that his voice sounds on this track. He sounds very powerful here. I do wish that this song was released as a single like The Dust Brothers wanted originally.

I'm listening to "A Year And A Day" as I type this. What's YOUR favourite song off of "B-Boy Bouillabaisse"?

I love B-Boy Bouillabaisse in its entierty, but I gotta say A.W.O.L. is my favorite...
I don't know why, it just is.
Hello Brooklyn, Stop That Train and Mic On The Mic are close behind though.

Y'all is crazy! Though all of the tracks therein are absolutely charming, I think "Lay It On Me" is the indefinite champion. Shit's bananas.

I second that! The beginning of MCA's "spiritual" themes and a damn good song in any case. It was also the first B-Boys song that I actually found challenging to read off the lyrics while the track played. MCA really was on fire and I sometimes wonder why he never displayed such raw lyrical skill on their other tracks.

I actually had this discussion with a UK fan once and he said it was the drugs rhyming. I thought that was a little harsh and suggested that perhaps MCA was actually the best MC out of the three and had to slow down his flow so as not to stand out from the others when they rhymed together. The fact that he repeats such fast flows on another notable solo track, "Stand Together" just proves this for me.

I'm sure that most if not all of you will disagree with me on this, but I just can't think of any other reason why his flows are vastly superior on his solo tracks. What do you all think?

I've seen this same thread about 30 times since I've been on these boards and my answer is always A Year And A Day. The way they flipped that Isley Brothers sample was genius, and the lyrics, shit...

It is easily the most lyrical song they ever recorded and I myself really value the importance of lyrics in hip-hop. I have had the lyrics printed out and up on the wall of my bedroom for years now. Any girl or new friend that checks it always reads it through and is just like "...wow". (y)

A grrreat part of a grrreat track.

Btw.: The day after tomorrow (and tomorrow starts in 8 minutes) it will have been "a year and a day" since minton announced grrreat 'Beasties in Poland' typo news. *sigh*
