I've just been perusing play.com's bargain bin and 'Cut The Crap' is there for £2.99 which, for anyone living outside the UK, is dirt cheap for a CD.

I'm tempted because The Clash are consistently a cut above, and 'This Is England' sits well enough with me, even if it doesn't have the typical Clash sound but I've heard some real horror stories about the album and have never seen it for a low enough price to consider testing the water.

Will I be wasting my money? :/

Haven't heard the album, but if you're short on cash, check this....

It's not mine, but I thought it was a fairly good mashtape.

It's not really The Clash and it's not really any good. Even Strummer didn't like it. But £2.99 is cheap, so go ahead.

Yes. Fifty pence is too much for that piece of shit.

Start with London Calling. It's close to perfect.

*is still unsure about buying Cut the Crap*

I think The Clash (US version), Black Market Clash (original version), London Calling, and Sandinista! are the essential ones for any collection.

By no means is it The Clash at their best (it only has Strummer and Simonon, the other guys were kicked out), but there's some passable stuff on it. Nobody will be saying it's anywhere up to par, but I didn't think it was nearly as bad as it's built up to be.

If you want to be a Clash completist, you may as well dive in.

What don't you have?

I only have random songs...no albums. My brother's gonna sort me out with some.

Some great songs so far....Guns of Brixton, Bank Robber....

It has very very very very little Simonon.

Joe Strummer – vocals
Nick Sheppard – guitar, vocals on "North and South" and "Play to Win"
Mickey Gallagher – keyboards and synthesizers
Norman Watt-Roy – bass
Bernie Rhodes – drum machine programming
Vince White – additional guitar on "Do It Now"
Paul Simonon – additional bass on "Do It Now"
Pete Howard – additional drums on "Do It Now"
