I don't know much about Australian tv, but I hope that channel 9 is not one of the more prestigious stations. that anchor woman was way out of line. I suspect if the interview had gone on much longer that kid would've told her to fuck off.

this guy rules right now, but in real life he's probably a retard.

he's very very typical of a young australian man.
and channel 9 is a somewhat prestigious channel. was that show a current affair or something? the woman was very very typical of the dumb bitches they have on current affairs shows. really fuckin stupid with this bullshit hardcore journalist attitude.

I think the attitude was more hardcore granny than hardcore journalist.

Channel 9 have been losing money, the ratings war, and staff at an alarming rate over the last 8 or so years. Prestige in this case is a bit of a misnomer, since 7 and 10 do better, but only because they have actual shows. I'd venture that none of them are prestigious per se.

A Current Affair is really just a shit version of Hard Copy. All objectivity is thrown out the window from word go. When they're not dissecting and evaluating the top 5 sunscreens this summer, they're chasing some businessman down the street to fuel the rage of the great unwashed. No objectivity, ever. No journalism either, just hardline complaining and psuedo-advocacy.

Yeah, the kid is pretty funny. He's the gday.joel of actual life.

I wouldn't say he's a typical young Australian man.

Kid P is right. There is no journalistic value in either TT or CA. They're not journalists, they're presenters.

A kid threw a party that got out of hand when his parents went out of town?

Is that even news? If so, I'd be elected the fucking PM of the entire country by now for the crap I did when I was 16 if I grew up in Australia.

Those news retards deserved to get embarressed for even making that a feature and putting that story on the air.

Australian televison seems bad. At least channels that i get here in Sydney and i believe it's the major ones. Super frequent commercial brakes, ridicilous tv personalities and awful news reporting. Though i did enjoy "Iron chef" yesterday but that is a japanese show. The main ingredient of the night was broccoli. Favorite quote from the jury: "This is what broccoli is all about!". Wonderful!

I get the feeling televison here is a lot like American TV. Well, at least they show a lot of tennis right now.

I think the newsworthiness is more to do with the fact the kids bottled the police cars, and helicopters and the dog squad were called in to control them somewhat. Or something like that.

I don't think one-upping each other on how stupid the youths are in any given country is necessarily a good thing either - better this considered newsworthy as opposed to something more sinister.

I'm not trying to "One-Up" anyone. In fact, quite the opposite. I was pointing out how I think I've been a part of worse behavior and would have never dreamed of having the local news station request an interview.

The only thing they did by putting his picture on tv was make him into a star with his peers and more than likely inspire other dorky kids to try to "One-Up" his act.
