I hate it.

I'm not complaining saying I have it worse than anyone, or pretending like it's some curse to have a steady job where regular hours are expected. I just really don't like working on a steady schedule like this.

Hell - I don't even like getting paid by the hour. I think it's ridiculous. Pay me to do a task, pay me what it's worth to get the task done - however long it takes.

My job isn't always 9-5, sometimes it's weird hours and sometimes it's no-hours, but I hate working a whole week the same. I was scolded awake today by someone I care about because I wanted to go to work an hour late while my boss is out of town. My last roomie once went on a tirade where he claimed I'd never hold a job because I keep "the hours of a hobo."

Can you handle the grind? Am I just a whiner who has no sense of responsibility?

you will get used to it slowly. It usually goes at about the same rate as your soul being sucked away from the 9-5 life.

And does anyone seriously work 9-5 anymore? Its usually 8-5 or at least 9 hour shifts with lunch in there. Its time to change it to 8-5 or 9-6.

when school's out i work 9-6 six days a week. i always have to get adjusted to it when it starts back up again. it depresses the shit out of me for the first few weeks then i get use to it. i actually find it more enjoyable when i have classes from 8-2 and work 3-9 or 3-11 just because it's not the same god damn thing all day long. the boredom of routine just kills me.

I hate the whole waking up in the morning bit. I'm not a morning person at all and I dont know how I made it through the army waking up at 4am to do pt and shit.

Currently my hours are perfect. 3pm to 11pm. I get home at about 12am and stay awake till 5 am. It's great for when I go to practice or think of new song ideas cause I've heard your most creative hours are late pm to early am hours and I believe it.

Wake up at 12 and leave at 1pm for work feeling refreshed. Thank god I get paid by the hour cause I dont do shit.

i hate the early morning too. everything looks all fucked up because the sun's on the other side and you're just not use to it.

I didn't like working 'til close at the video store or book store (midnight). By that time, a lot of my other friends were winding down their day.

I did and do really like starting the day really early so, when I'm off work, there's still some afternoon left. You can get some
errands done while the city's more quiet and less crowded with cars, etc.

I worked the night shift at Meijer for a little while doing stocking - and despite considering myself a "night owl" I was miserable. All my friends would go see a movie at 10pm (starting time) and I always had to stay late (early?) to help other teams finish. Not what I wanted to do at 7:30am after working all night.

i hate when i have classes early, because i have to get up before the sun comes out. i fucking hate waking up when it's still dark out, i can't do it. i usually hit the snooze until the sun comes up, then i have to rush to get out the door in time.

i only did a paper route once, in like middle school or high school or something. this girl kept asking me if i would take over her route for one day because she had to go somewhere or something, and finally i caved in and did it. the next day i see her and she's like "what the hell, i didn't get my paper?" i hit every other house on the route and i didn't have any left, i didn't know she was supposed to get one too. oh well, i made $6 out of the deal. then like 8 years later i almost made out with her

that was a long term plan. it didn't quite pan out though

anyway that paper route sucked, it was dark and cold

In Indiana, there was the occasional morning where there was just too much snowfall for me to go trudging around on foot, so my brother
would usually have to drive me around.

One morning, I just said fuck it and put it all on him. He wasn't too happy about that, but he had way more character than me so he did it.

I hateeeeeeeee getting up in the morning

I also wish the hours were shorter because I feel like I need to do a million things before having to go to work again the next day. And with commuting and exercising, it's already past 7:30 or sometimes 8pm. Then I have to cook dinner, get lunch ready for the next day, clean up, then have a bit of time to relax. But usually it's already getting super late by the time all that stuff is done. I sometimes don't get around to cleaning up. So relaxing time? ha.

But you know, gotta pay the bills and all that.
And I really like where I work so far. That helps, a LOT.

I have to wake up for work before the sunrise about 5 months of the year.

no biggie. I work 8-4:30. except for days like today where a coworker had to come in super early and i decied to join them for the comraderie. so I got here at 3:30 am today! throwing a 12 hour shift down mid-week its no strain on me. and I enjoy getting paid OT for those last 4 hours, so they go by REAL quick-like.

the best is skipping out on work early because you finished up everything. its the ultimate. showing up for work an hour or two late because of an appointment etc is balls because then im still expected to have the same amount of work done by 4:30 regardless.

That shit's good training.

I delivered papers from age 11 to 14, and I hate getting up early. Sleeping in and generally lazing about is how I compensate myself for those years. I'm worried about getting into the 9-5 routine, I've worked nights and kept my own hours for so long now.

I work 11-7 or 10-6 depending on the day. except today I came it at 12 because I didn't feel like getting out of bed. ees too cold.

I'm not a morning person, but I've had jobs where I had to be up at like 5:30am or something and I just got used to it. I was young though, I could make it through the day on very little sleep. I have always had a hard time getting to sleep before midnight...and without 7-8 hours of sleep, I'm a wreck.
