Drinking in america

Hi im from ireland and me and five of my friends are spending this summer in america, now the thing is only three of use are over 21 the 2 other guys are 21 in oct and nov, now what im wondering is the whole id thing big over there or what?:confused: I've watched some of those mtv real world shows and most of them seem to be under 21 and there still able to drink is different laws is different states? any help would be cool

Really depends on the states/areas you go to. I know when I'm back in my hometown/state in Michigan they ID me everywhere I go. Sometimes to even get in places! Out here in California/Los Angeles though I've only had to break my ID out once.

man the states is shit for drinkin underage, they actually think its a drug over there. they fucking paddywagoned (big police van, little to no room on the inside) me when i was like 14, brought me back to the camp ground, lights-ah-blazin - blah. tell your friends to watch themselves

If you're coming from Ireland you'll probably hate drinking in the states....it depends on where you are but they are pretty strict bout the underage thing unless you happen to be a hot female. Plus a lot of places have this damn thing called "last call" which pretty much ruins your fun just when you were getting started. Most big cities though go all night but it's still not like in Europe. Anyway happy boozin

It really depends on how old you look. I still get carded lots of places in the States. Pretty much every bar I went to in NYC and DC carded me...yeah, you can go to the dive bars and *maybe* they won't, but I've been carded there too. All of these times, I've been OVER 21 too, I never tried to get into places when I was younger.

Pretty much there are a ton of bars that you can see right off the bat that you won't be let into - the ones where the guys are sitting on stools out front, near the front door. Don't even try there.

To save time and effort, I'd just get bombed at the hotel and then go find something else to do, because the bars aren't anything really special. You can find slutty girls in tube tops aaaanywhere.

I have been carded in EVERY bar/club i have ever been to in the US. From the age of 23 (when i lived there for a while) to 33 (which i was when i visited the US in November last year)

So i either look really young.

the law in VA is if you look under the age of 27, they have to card you. which is so fucking dumb b/c the drinking age is 21. but i'll tell you i get carded everywhere except our local dive, and that's b/c they know me.

i guess that means i look under 27... hey! there's the silver lining!

you should make fake IDs. I don't know what kind of identification cards they have in ireland, but I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pass it off in the states. unless you go to an irish pub (a real one, with irish people)...but then they might just let you in anyway.

NOW THIS is a good idea. make a fake ireland ID. seriously, it'll throw those bouncers for a loop.. when i'm even out of state, some people are perplexed by my ID. this might actually work.

Haha, that's funny. The Canadians up here don't really know what to look for on my Maryland license...and now I have a North Carolina license because I changed my car stuff to where my parents live. So they must be thinking "Damn, first a fake ID from Maryland, now from North Carolina? Well, you can't argue it just let her in."
