Man, I'm tired of all the irresponsible fucks I've encountered while trying to get a band together.

We jam out, things fucking click. In a few bands I've auditioned with, we clicked fastly.

They tell me they have to audition a few more people and such which is cool. I'm not the "best" anything but, I'll try my hardest to get some fucking jams out of the music.

I've been waiting like 3 weeks now for an update. I've called and left messages, "hey that was some good shit yo, and give me a call back at such and such number". I wouldn't have even left a message if they didn't act so cool and our conversations matched.

So far, it's like 3 people I've auditioned with. No calls back. Just left with a notion of them being interested and them saying they'll keep in touch.

Who here wants to start a fuckin band? haha.

Not knowin too much about band politics so to speak but is it possible that someone in each band saw you as a creative threat?

not sure where you're coming from but, are you saying they're not creative enough or...

I don't know. I record my own stuff, i have fun with it and if it ever becomes something, cool. Everything is done by me so far, song writing, music, etc.

Eh, I'll have to see what you really meant before I can give the better answer.

I meant that although the bands obviously want someone, there is a possibility that some members might think you would start contributing a lot of songs that they didnt want to do and they were worried what "direction" things would go in if they picked you. Some people in bands can be very precious and they might see you as someone who would change their band.
I'm not suggesting that you would try and do that for one minute, i think you would be happy just joining in but what i am trying to say is that maybe the bands you are auditioning for are thinking otherwise.

I hope that explains what i meant

Another thing, have you ever had a go at remixing the acapellas with your original stuff?

yeah, I see where you're coming from. If that's the case then they should at least notify you. Either "hey man, we're not proper together" "you suck"..

You know, at least give someone a heads up of what's going on. It's my main gripe. That way I can keep on auditioning till I find the right people.

Also, I'd try my best to fit in the music. Hopefully they know I'm not trying to change anything. More like work with them rather than changing them.

and no, i haven't tried remixing. I just want to keep it where it's at for now. If other people join in then the music will be up for discussion of how to make it so everyone's comfortable with it.

whats that bit all about?

You should have a go at putting some of your sounds on the acapellas in the meantime - you never know you might make something you like and could make contact with like minded individuals - you could be in a band over the internet - you never know - its possible

other than that - i guess you'll have to keep pluggin away

sorry, my keyboard went all crazy. I just mean it would be cool if people return your calls or keep you up to date.

But yeah. I see where you're getting at. I could try the remixing. And in the meantime it's off to find more people I suppose.

if you get a demo together and try and promote it and people might come to you instead of you going to them

word. I was thinkin of putting a three song demo together and passing them out when I open mic.

Also I have to take into consideration that NY is full of musicians so, maybe they've got their hands full with auditons.

I gotta be like Axl and have a little patience. Yeah yeah yeah.

Keep doing your music and they'll come to you. Go to open mics and shows and try to meet other musicians. You'll have much better luck through networking. I know a band looking for a singer-guitarist in the Seattle area if you want to move out this way. ;)

I was in a band and there always seemed to be a piece missing. If we had a guitarist we couldn't find a bass player, if we had a bass player we couldn't find a guitarist. It blew. I auditioned about a hundred people from craigslist over the years and let me tell you it works both ways, kudos to you for following up. I can't tell you how many people I we had good jams with who never called me back. Actually, that whole thing is what ultimately burned me out on being in a band.

It'd be cool to be part of the Seattle scene. Wish I could.

Yeah, I think I'll be open micing this Sunday. Pass out some cds as well.

I was about to put another ad on craigslist but, I'm getting burnt on that too.

On a good note, I've been getting a couple friend requests on my myspace from some bands. Some pretty amazing bands, I'll check their music out and it's some good stuff.

Apparently I'm doing something right cause they say I rock and stuff and comments coming from bands like these are a much appreciated compliment.

well, at least you didn't meet up with an escort from the craigslist erotic section and then that girl claimed that you pretended to be a cop and then you raped her and so you're sitting in jail on no bond and I am the one who exposes all of this after you lost your job, wife, etc. because you exercised your right to remain silent.

*could be worse*
