I don't know of any operating Drive-in's anymore. I think there maybe one not too far from me in Oakland, CA but I'm not sure if it's still there or not.
Do you remember going to the Drive-in? I do, even though I was pretty small. I saw Bambi and Snow White at the drive in if that gives you any indication of my age at the time.
Sadly, I've never been to a drive in as an adult. but I think it would be awesome. watching a movie in the comfort of my own car where I can smoke doobies and put my feet up on the dash.
the only thing that always sucked about the drive in was the sound. but I'm sure with modern technology they could make it better.

Yeah, I went to a drive in. One of the last double features I saw was (I think) Rocky II and a motocross documentary called Dirt.
Also, when I was a teenager, we had a porn drive-in. There was a dark old dirt road that ran right along beside it, so you could just
pull over and watch the action from there. (No sound that way, but what the hell.)

We have one just outside of my town. It's pretty nice, it has three screens (i don't know if thats a lot or a little for a drive in,) and each screen shows two movies, so you get to see two movies for 5 bucks. and it's family operated. i always go there with my girlfriend. that is also the place where i first got high. lots of fond memories at that place.

We've got three in the Chicagoland area. Maybe 2 now. Not sure. I do know of one which is an ok place. It's called CASCADE. $8 gets ya 2 flicks. They even have a radio station so you can listen from your car speakers. They still have the little speaker box if ya wanna go nostalgic like.
I always think of The OutSiders when I think of a drive-in.

man, they're disappearing from my hometown and being taken over by camp grounds.
We used to have one right down the road from where I used to live as a kid and my pals and I used to always sneak in. The first time I've seen boobies was at that place. Yeah, they were animated because the movie was Heavy Metal.
There's one near Toledo that I hope they never tear down cause it's got 2 screens, one opposite of each other and they play different movies.

we still have 2 or 3 around here, although i think only one does the double feature and is worth going to anymore.
i think its only open 3 or 4 nights a weekand you either get the kids option with the G rated movies or the regular option usually with something a bit more exciting

I think they're working on a comeback here in Germany. All but three closed down in the 80s, but I saw a report 3 or 4 years ago which mentioned that there were app. 20 at that time. Urban politics and traffic conditions force people in bigger cities to get rid of their cars so they're mostly located in rural areas.
There is a long running one in Ramstein, where fellow BBMBer Tone Capone is headed for.

I go to one in Butler every Thursday in the summer for carload night. For thirteen bucks, you pack everybody you can into a car so it usually only ends up being two bucks a piece, but somebody usually covers me since I have to drive the furthest. It's a good time.

Ode to the drive in!!...such a big fan...grew up with them...1st feature would be for the kids, second for the parents...something scary or at least R rated...we used to go in our pajamas...the swings and teeter totters down by the screen...watch the second feature through one eye, supposedly asleep in the back seat...and this was before you attached a wire via alligator clip to the attena of your car or tuned the audio in on radio...little box hanging off the window...big brown paper bags of popcorn cause we were broke...watching the "rich" folk head to the concession at intermission...eating chicken and hot dogs....jealousy!...then as a teen when someone got their 1st ride it was the place to go to get high or try and drink or get lucky...there all gone now...all that this city has is bullshit cineplexes...a haven of commercial evilness....I know that outside of some of the smaller towns farmers let this guy and his wife set a portable, blow up screen and they bring movies for charity's...but the screen is like a third of the size and you're in a wheat field....the kidz today have no idea...come to think of it I was thinking the other day that cannibals may be extinct as well....

I remember as a child climbing up into the car's back window and going to sleep during the musical 1776.
Appropriate response, I think.
There's one in Monticello, Indiana.
It's not too bad I guess, the sound plays through your car stereo and it's about half as much to see a movie there since they always do double features. It's always a hassle deciding when to turn off your car though, and when you do whether the stereo stays on or lights come on etc. - I don't think auto manufacturers really had that in mind.
