Okay, for the way I used to do this, you need 2 programs. One to rip the DVD information, and one to convert it into an avi file. There are some that can do it in a one-er, but fuck it, this is what I used.

First, DVD Decrypter (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1), this will take the DVD and put it onto your HD in .vob files or whatever it does. It's simple enough to use, and I managed okay without much help.

Now, you need to turn all this shit into one manageable .avi file. For this, I used Auto GK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads), it's a little more complex to use, but you make it as difficult as you want. Stick to the basic modes at first and you should get the results you require. I don't think you'll have any problems with this anyway, there are enough tutorials out there for these programmes.

Good luck, I hope this is what you require.

What program are you using? (I've been unable to get dvd decrypter and auto gk to work for me, so thought I'd ask)

If it's free it probably isn't easy.
