AAANNNDDDDD....... it was really good.
They were fucking awesome as you would imagine them to be, yet there were a few little niggles that annoyed me.
RATM have always been a band that has struggled with keeping time, and this still showed. You would think that since the band members have all been playing together for so long that they would have it down by now. Tom Morello drove the pace, not Brad Wilk, and he constantly dragged the rest of the band down. He consistently tried to make the band play slower, and as a result almost every track they played was played slower than the cd version. I just wanted to yell out to Tom 'play fucking faster like the rest of the band!!!' It was very frustrating when you were trying to jump up and down to the beat.
Tim fucked up a few times, so did Zack, so did Tom. Don't get me wrong, it still was an amazing show, but there was that little voice in the back of my head that was saying 'they arent feeling this anymore'. My friends agreed.
The second time I saw them, in my home town, 75% of these problems had gone. it was amazing to see 35,000 people jump up and down and scream all at the same time.
Now THAT performance was the best set I have ever seen. Mindblowing. Completely surreal.
If you had told me 2 years ago that I would see RATM not once but twice in 3 days, I would have punched you in the face and told you you were a wanker.
