i've switched the mouse over to the left of my keyboard as part of avoiding rsi at work (and home).

it's like trying to pat your tummy and rub your head

apparently after two weeks your brain rewires itself and gets completely used to it.

anyone else had a go at doing this?

not yet.the angle at which I sit would not allow it.It would totally freak me out to try really but I understand the RSI thing if you are at work not that my current job I do that now.My main problem now are blisters on my toes from standing for the most part of a 12 hour shift.I think I need to book the chiropodist again

i tried it once figuring that since i am left handed,it would be an easy switch

boy was i wrong!

i would probably benefit from doing it, though i am trying to force myself to use the touchpad more often as well

I don't know if this is out yet, but looks like something that would be very useful for someone in your situation.

I really should try it as these days I spend several hours every day by the computer
and I've been getting terrible pain on right side of my neck.
I've been rubbing tigerbalm every night, but it hasn't helped yet...
I really should cut down the internestsss....

All my years of mousin for work/play hours on end, eventually led to a pain in my neck too! I switched from a standard mouse to a trackball... it's a lil geriatric looking, but it saved my neck.(lb)

I am left handed and have never switched my right click/left click, I've just used them the way they are for righties. You can get used to it. So I right click with my thumb... am I a freak?!

wouldnt using your thumb to right click imply that you are pulling your thumb across your hand and/or picking up your hand to click?

I once worked with an architect who was right-handed, but used the mouse on the left side of the keyboard. I tried it that way at first, but I had to switch it. it felt crazy.

sometimes I text with my left hand. I'm developing a callus on my right thumb I think.

I'm trying to use the mouse with my left hand now. It takes a while to learn to cordinate, and I'm still using my indexfinger to press the right-click...

yep it feels pretty natural now, after about two weeks. i too am clicking with my left index finger now--i changed it over in the settings panel.

i'll see if this improves things.

that mouldable mouse looks interesting... will check it out further.
