I actually almost cried a teeny tiny bit. I know I shouldn't admit that but whatever - I'm soooooo excited!!!! BUT I won't be able to relax until I have tix. The pre-sale is for a full day and I can't figure it out:mad:.

Klepto, if anyone deserves these boys it's you. Your day will come(y)

How can a band that brings me such Nachass also bring so much agida? (sorry about the yiddish- it just comes out when I'm all flaclempt).
So I've no idea how to get tickets or if I will get tickets, I only know that I will try very hard.
:(
Sidebar- I think its interesting the widely different feelings I get when I hear about new Beastie Boys music as opposed to shows. Theres gotta be a better way to do this, although I certainly don't know what it is.

I keep deciding that I'm done with Beasties live shows. Lord knows I will never see them at a festival again. And then they do this shit and I start looking at my work calendar and wondering whether there is a remote possibility of me getting out of a shitload of work and where I might stay, etc.

personally i have to stop the madness, i already flew home once just for the tour & must travel there at the end of march. . . it makes no sense for me to go.

but i just want to say, i really think it's a great org they'll be benefitting. to give just one example, a therapist friend of mind has used music therapy with the blind with incredible results. their web site musichaspower.org seems to be down but i found this story. (http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=local&id=3845726)

that being said . . . it makes it all the more shameful that evil TM has the power over these tix. all those service fees, not to mention the scalper rates that inevitably ensue, should go straight to the charity. :(

I wholeheartedly I agree! This is an amazing cause, and one that hits close with my family. These types of illnesses/injuries don't get nearly enough attention. Way to go Boys!!

Anyway, I hope every meathead in the Tri-State uuureah shows up to this thing, I'll be right at home.
It's not supposed to be a funeral, it's a mu-fukkin Beazly Boys concert. Leave the Wine & Brie at home.

FYI~

This isn't really a smallish venue.
I have a friend who's an AV guy who's worked that place. He tells me it holds around 3000.
That's approx. the size of the venues they were playing this past tour for TMU.

People should forget their visions of the HIRO show being anything like this show.

The venue was a club for years (Carbon, Mirage, Exit)
It just opened as a music/special event venue in October.

Here's some info/floor plans

Also, IMNF (http://www.bethabe.org/Press_Center98.html) finally updated their page with info on the benefit. I'm still not understanding why pre-sales were $25 more than reg. on sale.

Beastie Boys to Headline Special Benefit Concert
for the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function
March 4, 2008 at Terminal 5 in New York City

New York, NY, February 6, 2008 - The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF), a leader in innovative music therapy treatments and research, is pleased to announce a special Music Has Power™ Benefit Concert on March 4, 2008 at New York City’s Terminal 5. The Institute is dedicated to advancing scientific inquiry on music and the brain and to developing clinical treatments to benefit people of all ages and was founded with the help of renowned neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks. Past Music Has Power events have featured appearances and performances by Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Dustin Hoffman, moby, Rob Thomas, the B-52's, Kris Kristofferson, Rufus Wainright, Bruce Hornsby, Vanessa Carlton and many others.

I think I read that the venue holds ~3,000 ppl but assume that would have to include the booth areas, etc. Looking at the floor plan, it seems like we may still get our intimate show?!

I've been to Terminal 5 a few times, I saw hold steady/art brut, the fab faux and ween there. It used to be a club called Exit which most people in NYC would have heard of, Its in the middle of nowhere on the West side.

I would suggest getting there early if you want a nice spot in the front or up on the balconies, The sound quality is hit or miss though, if you get there late you will be stuck underneath the balcony overhang and it sounds like shite.
